If you can get Ottawa (or any team) to take Smitty's full contract for a 4th round pick, you should get a job working as an NHL GM.

Ottawa has to add, at a minimum, 20m in cap hit next year to hit the floor. On 7/2/2020 Smith has a $4.35m cap hit but only $2.35m in salary owed. Exactly the contract that Melnyk will be telling Dorion to find so he can hit the floor with the lowest amount of actual cash spent. Hard to get to 20m in contracts with only ELC's.
