Description
With all the money the Leafs have invested in their top 4 forwards, it will be almost impossible to upgrade the blueline without trading one of them. This trade clears some cap space and fetches a solid RHD on a team-friendly contract, not to mention a first round pick. If Dubas is going to trade from his core, this is the kind of return he'll be looking for.

You have to take Kerfoot out of the trade. He stayed an extra year in college to avoid playing for the Devils that drafted him. The Devils would not trade for him.

Didn't know that. Switch Kerfoot for Johnsson and maybe the Devils add a third or a fourth, then?

Nylander for Severson + a 1st or a 2nd seems fair enough already - not sure why Liljegren and Kerfoot are needed in the trade

Kerfoot/Johnsson for Zacha is for cap relief. Liljegren isn't needed after adding Severson, and the 1st is to balance the deal.

Liljegren is still definitely needed. Muzzin plays the left side and Lily has tons of upside. If Nylander is being moved, a better defenseman than Severson better be coming back.
