It is and it is a better alternative. Gives them a solid D core finally and a good 2C. Trading Matthews for this kind of return makes them a better team.

Trading top-5 player in the league to win now is really bald strategy.. also if second opinion after that is to trade Tavares, you need some helping there. Mostly Marner traded makes sense from roster and cap balance standpoint.
