Sergachev

Created by: dvarkonyi
Team: 2020-21 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 27, 2020
Published: Feb. 27, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Really simple math: Lightning have $76,166,666 in salary next season with at least 2 forwards and 3 defencemen (Assuming McDonagh will be healthy next year) to sign. Assuming you sign all of them at an average of 1.5 mil, thats a cap hit of 7.5 mil extra. Now assuming that Sergachev will be signing with them at an AAV of 3-4 mil, the Lightning wont have room for him if the habs offer sheet him at a wild 5 year deal at 8.5 mil (a la Aho).
Might be too much now, but hes been averaging 35 points playing behind Hedman. Fast forward to next year and you have him next to Weber. Lets say he gets 45 points next year with first pairing time and PP time. Thoughts?

Also, Romanov stays an extra year in the KHL for development purposes
Alzner gets bought out at the second buyout period after his june or july 15th bonus kicks in

I think it's something the habs should seriously consider. Tampa is in a tough spot unless they move out 2-3 vet contracts with NMC's. Signing Cirelli is gonna be tough too.

And this would fill a need they have.
On top of that, they dont need to rush Romanov

Sergachev every day. Habs have plenty of young guy who can possibly do what Cirelli does (ish). Sergachev/Romanov/Norlinder/Leguerrier/Strubble, habs future would look good on LD

Tough call. Can I say both? haha, The habs have been lookin for a #1 C forever so I would lean more to Cirelli, but there is no wrong answer IMO
