Matching Sergachev Offer sheet

Created by: dvarkonyi

Initial Creation Date: Feb. 27, 2020

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I did a thread where the habs could do another offer sheet for Sergachev, this is just to see the other side if Tampa matches.
They would still need to sign other players to fill their roster and theyre already over the cap

I agree he will be offered a five year deal. But will be under 8 to avoid having to give up 2 first rounders. My guess 6.75 for 5 years

Why would he not? He will never get that nice of a contract with Tampa

I mean his market value is probably at 5 mil for 3 years. Why wouldn't he accept a deal that pays him 3.5 more?

Ok well maybe not Montreal then, but another team could easily offer a better contract then Tampa can offer

Except for most teams that would offer him this supposed 8+ value, they are nowhere near as close to Tampa is as far as being a contender, much worse weather/environment and higher taxes. Not to mention no team is going to offer him more than 8 anyway, like the rest of Tampa's rfa's over the years, there will be some back and forth but he'll eventually sign a 3 year bridge for 4.5 to 5 max, knowing that when it's over he'll get a big contract when Tampa has more cap room. Tampa could go 5 years if they wanted to and move some other pieces, but that's not how Tampa does things with their rfa's. Nothing indicates things will change now. Serg, Cirelli and Cernak for no more than 11 million and after they move out Paquette, one of Gourde/TJ/Killorn and Coburn, they will be able to make things work. Seen it too many times now to doubt Tampa this Summer either.
