Yea ok.... nobody takes chances on 20 year old top 10 picks.... ( Strome, Pouliot did well in NY alone sure there are many others)
Puljarvi people are also waiting to trade for....

Your opinion is just not true....

I suggested a trade with Smith and Lias Andersson going to Dallas for 3rd rounder in 2021 (a 4th may be more reasonable) Also they will probably need to buy out Hank

I'll be surprised if Smith is a Ranger next season.

Even if the Rangers are unable to swing a deal they like, a buyout would save 1.5M. Cut some corners on those deals and you can probably get to 3M+space by that alone.

This is my own speculation, but i could also see Hank going somewhere else next summer. The guy is ultra competitive and already hinted at how they have to sit down next summer and talk about some things. Without speculating on any trade which is tough to make obviously, they could just buy him out so he can sign somewhere else for cheap if that's what he wants. Would save 3M for next year.

such a naive statement. i think people would definitely take andersson.. especially a team like ottawa that will need to get to the cap floor, the fact that come july 1st after his bonus is paid out smith will only be owed 2.35m (vs his cap hit of 4.5) and they are rebuilding. No Andersson won't set the world on fire, but he didn't get a legitimate chance in NY. He's still only 21 so it is way too early to write him off.

i think hank is gonna retire.. they'll offer him some cushy front office job.. and Smith will be a lot easier to trade after july 1st, he's only owed 2.35m.

Probably makes sense to move Lundqvist while retaining cap, that should give enough space to get everyone under the Cap.

Shesterkins and Georgiev should be a good enough duo to pick up the slack if the other one is struggling a bit.

Only thing is the whole loyalty thing since Hank has been with the Rangers through thick and thin for his whole career, and is for sure a fan favorite.

I'm sure there will be teams interested in Staal too if the price is fair.

Would you give up Honka's rights for them? What would NYR need to add if not?

I honestly just like it as you described it. We take the cap hit and ansdersson as compensation for doing so. only a minor pick going back

I think Nill declines. He has plenty to worry about as he probably wants to keep Khudobin, and he's going to have to pay Hintz, Gurianov and Faksa. I think very few teams could to that deal to begin with.

I also think teams will want to wait and see whether Lias is mentally healthy enough to come back. It might take some time before he could even be considered in any trade talks.

I think you're .5 mil too high on all 4 contracts, which still leaves the team just over the cap (whether its 83 or 84).

Something definitely happens, just not sure what:
Staal retirement or buyout?
Smith trade or buyout?
Hank trade or retirement or buyout?

At least 1 of those 7 scenarios will happen between the end of the season and September.

I feel like Strome gets a one year prove it above 5 mil

DeAngelo is going to want to get paid after agreeing to a bargain contract for the Rangers cap this year.

They can trade Smith with Andersson somewhere as a sweetener.

I kinda used Dallas as an example. There are many other teams that may be interested. You are right about that 2nd part. Maybe Sean Day instead.

I do not see teams willing to take Smith, even at half his salary of just north of 2 million. They can get production from others for less. NYR should let all the contracts expire (no buyouts), and they'll have plenty of money to spend after next season to help this core.

I think your bag on for contracts of DeAngelo and Strome.
Will they both be Rangers though is the question.

Lundqvist's NMC clause and his love for NYC probably means he is going nowhere.

I dont think Lias Andersson has any value.
He has history of bad attitude,.

Both Oilers and Rangers may want X for their disgruntled players, reality is they will be throws in a trade.
