A pick or another prospect? He's a pending UFA. Getting a solid 4C in return and a decent prospect. How much more will it take?

Lol Jay beagle will be 35 to basically start the season and signed for 2 more years with injury concern and making $3m and not producing much at all. No one wants that unless you retain. And the prospect likely doesn't make the NHL - so yeah, it'll cost more. Honestly it's just a trade made with blinders on. Would you want to trade a solid 3c after a career year that has only one year left for a 35 year old 4c you'll have to pay good money to for 2 more years and a nobody prospect? Nah.

Well considering your team is headed towards a retool I wouldn't be surprised if your GM is interested in picks and prospects this off-season...

if the canucks are doing so great, and are a playoff team, can win the cup blablabla, makes me wonder why are there so many AGM's blowing the team up, getting new guys and totally re-tooling.
the view should be making the least amount of moves possible to keep what we have intact.
sure some of the contracts are bad, but the team is meshing extremely well and performing great the only one we really need off the books this off season is Ericksson. that would give us space to re-sign markstrom, tanev toffoli and the RFA's. Beagle, sutter, and roussel have all found a great niche on the canucks and are all valuable to the team

That's fine - but beagle is neither of those. They could do better very easily.

Hopefully you are right. Sure they are a playoff team, but as is, I don't see this team making it past the 2nd or 3rd round. Bringing guys like Martinez and Clifford will help your team substantially in the playoffs especially with Pearson and Toffoli already there. DeMelo is an upgrade over Stetcher for about the same price. Martinez is a huge upgrade over Benn. Beagle might be fine at 4C, but guys like Roussel, Sutter, and Eriksson need to go and be upgraded in order to succeed. I truly believe this team will be the next Canadian team to win a Stanley Cup if the right moves are made. Bringing in guys like Toffoli, Pearson, Martinez, and Clifford is beyond building a playoff team, it is building a serious contender with a combination of a great young core and proven playoff winners.
