Description
Chevy takes the summer out at Lake of the Woods and gives me free reign. If Bryan Little can't go again next season, then I'd target a 2C like Granlund. Someone in the $5-6M range. Give him wingers like Laine and Ehlers and I think he will thrive. Bottom 6 is the strongest it has been since relocation (and likely beyond). Eakin's line has a lot of scoring punch and the 2015 line can continue to grow together. I like Lowry and Perreault but they has been outplayed by some of the new guys at a lower cost. I'd take a chance on Puljujarvi. Reuniting him with Laine and a handful of other Finns in the organization should benefit his transition back into the NHL. Too talented to be playing in Europe. Lowry would be an excellent addition to the Oilers.

Hamonic and DeMelo are signed as UFAs to shore up the right side. With Niku, Heinola, Samberg and Stanley all LHD in the system, I like the idea of giving them the chance to gain more NHL experience. Beaulieu is resigned as a quality depth option. Offensive Poink and Niku are paired with defensive Morrissey and Hamonic to give them the freedom to be creative.

Broissoit has been likely too good to return as a backup for another season. A team with a lesser starter will likely pay him handsomely to be a reliable option. Unless he can sign for <$1.5M, he likely moves to another franchise and Berdin will get his shot (to play 12-15 games).

PP1 remains the same and will continue to be predictable but difficult to stop. PP2 oozes creativity and would be fun to watch.

We don't need Scheifele, Connor, Wheeler, and Ehlers killing penalties anymore. Seeing Laine leave the game after blocking a shot last night should be reminder enough.

Give Eakin a 2M - 1 year(show me year)
Granlund will want more money than he is getting...so a 5 year - 6M
Hamonic 4M+ is all he is worth
Rosy wont get more than what Copp got...2M+
If we get Hamonic, DeMelo is gone

Please let me be your assistant...smile

I like all those signings. Adding Grandlund would be good, but as Jetman mentioned he'll probably demand more on the open market even though he should make about 5 mill AAV,

I was hoping that Granlund would be a buy low candidate as he's having a mediocre year (last night aside). He is exactly what they need, a true 2C. He won't command 1C money but, if given quality wingers, should net 60-70 points.

I signed Rosy to term which is why he's getting more than Copp. I think he will grow into a solid middle 6 guy that can be moved around as needed. $4M is an over pay next year but should be good value over 5 years. I was also thinking about expansion and Rosy is likely to be exposed. Make Seattle pay if they are going to take him.

I wonder if the jets have a realistic shot at signing him because of his off year and that he's a Finn. You'd think that getting a chance to play with a country man in Laine and potentially light it up would be intriguing. Maybe that's the case for a 1 year "show me deal" but at the same time I think the jets would jump at the opportunity to sign him

Not many teams can offer Granlund the opportunity to walk into a 2C role with any combination of Connor, Wheeler, Laine and Ehlers as running mates. Assuming the Jets have neither Little nor Byfuglien next season, they will have the cap space to be a player for a quality C and a quality D. Many teams are cap screwed for next season for I think it will be a buyer's market.

Agreed. I was just commenting on a AGM about tampa and their cap issues.

Curious about Perreault, is this a cap dump for the last year of his contract? Is he not still serviceable as a bottom 6 forward?

Perreault is still very serviceable when healthy. He deserves a middle six position but with Wheeler, Laine, Connor, Ehlers, Copp and Roslovic all ahead of him on the winger depth chart he has been getting bumped all up and down the line-up.

You are hired! Zinger needed time at the lake as well!

He is totally worth a 4th, if he wasn't injured so much this year, he prob could have gotten a 3rd....As TrueNorth said, he was playing 3rd line mins as Connor and Ehlers are better than he is.
