Last thing the Habs need is another aging contract.

It would cost 3rd + Caufield, Brook and a future 1st to get from 3 to 1st. Probably even more than that

We don't need to buyout Alzner. He's a great pro, and at worst is a very good character down in Laval. He's still a solid #7 option.

Give Hall 10.5 Million with all of our young core needing contracts? No thanks. Everywhere Hall goes, the team instantly starts plummeting in the standings. There's a reason for that.

Under no circumstances should we give Kovalchuk more than 1 year. He has 1 point in his last 9 games and is just going to be another year older. Unless he is in the top 6, I don't see him helping us regardless.

I like the Anderson for Byron thought, but it's well known that Anderson has injury problems.

good takes.

Look at the Rangers and Panarin. They hit for the fences and it seems to be working now. He single-handedly brought the Devils to the playoffs.
Buyout Alzner for cap reasons
Byron is also VERY injury prone. tid for tad
I agree that this signing Hall may cause cap problems but three things to consider. Tatar and Petry will be off the books in 2021. Not sure KK will get as much money on his first deal. The cap will keep rising with years.
Kovalchuk should be 1 year you are correct. Hopefully, Caufield takes over after that.

Sad. Would love to see the German connection in Detroit.

They need it now more than ever before it's too late.

Not a chance any team pay that to pass from Byfield or Stutzle to Laffy.... I think a fair price would be a guy like Poehling or a first... But the team sitting at 1 would have to ne interested in a C like Byfield... MIN, ANA, DET and even CHI might be interested. With all their assets, Id be surprised if any of OTT or LA would be interested to move down though.

Avs say no in a heart beat. Girard is already a top 4 defenseman on a $5M AAV for the next 7 yrs. Just because Drouin played with MacKinnon in juniors doesn’t mean they have any interest in adding him especially since they have the cap space to just sign Hall, and who would Hall rather play with?

Are you capfriendly and drinking?
Girard isn’t being traded and if they did move him, he holds so much more value that drouin

Yeah, the Avs seriously don’t have to make a trade at all to stay really really good. Byram is the best defensive prospect not in the NHL, in the league and he has been going straight off since December. Newhook is going crazy in the NCAA, tied for 7th in scoring and is the highest scoring Freshman. You add those 2 to MacK, Mikko, Makar and Girard and you have your core for the next 10 yrs.

you didnt know a 21 year old top 4 dman who is on pace for 40 points who is solid defensively signed for the next 7 years doesnt hold that much value?
Or are you just over rating Drouin who is an inconsistent offensive froward who cant play a lick of Defense bc he played with Mackinnon 7 years ago?

im confused are you actually an avs fan or someones alt bc being this surprised Girard is good is giving me suspicions you dont even watch this team

Not only more pts but a higher PPG. And Byram averaged over 2 PPG since Jan 31st

Funny thing is before the draft, I told myself if Habs get lucky and pick Newhook I would be ecstatic. Never did I think Caufield would still be available at that point.

I was in shock when Caufield, Newhook and Krebs we’re still there they could honestly all end up being studs in the NHL.
