That Jones trade isn't worth it. The upgrade from PEsce to Jones isn't worth THAT. Gardiner for Miller is also a HUGE downgrade

What numbers are you looking at? He's never reached 30 points or 8 goals in a single season. That's not much offence.

Just as Slavin is the perfect partner for Hamilton and his defensive deficiencies (which aren't that bad), Pesce is the perfect partner for Skjei and his defensive deficiencies (which are). Jones may be all-star quality, but on this team, he's overkill. Better for the Hurricanes to keep all of those assets; in fact, I would contend that Jones for Pesce, Suzuki and ONE first is a trade Carolina shouldn't make.

Jones doesn't have good xGAR numbers at all. Hes tied with Justin Holl this season. He isnt that great and he has always played with good partners and had his numbers go way up because he was with panarin. Hes so overrated

That's way to much for a downgrade in Jones and jones is in a worse contract. Spending that much on a goalie is bad, especially now that we know goalies arent important

6M for a Vezina contender is a bargain.

Goalies arent that important. They could go out and get someone for 3 million and he will be just as good

Mrazek makes $3M he’s not even league average. Lehner is a top tier goalie even behind the worst defensive team in the league. They could use a goalie for games like tonight where they don’t score while producing 40+ plus shots. Lehner will steal games Mrazek will lose them.

Buffalo passes on Gardiner

Mrazek has been bad. Goaltending is so random and its extremely hard to predict what will happen. Last season mrazek was good but for some reason he hasn't this year. The structure and players infront of him have stayed the same or gotten better. There is absolutely no correlation between cap hit and goals performance. CBJ is doing the same thing. Instead of keeping Bob they kept two guys that people thought would be bad, including me. Its proven that it's way better and way less risky to spend the cap on building a good defensive structure instead of betting on a goalie.

Lehner would be very good in Carolina and that deal is in theory a steal but they could also go out and get guys like they have been getting (the James Reimers of the world) and pay them less then half of what they would be paying lehner and still get 90% of what they would be getting out of lehner.

For teams like Anaheim, Toronto, Chicago and Winnipeg you need to spend lots on goalies to be able to get a good one because they arent able to build a good D core. If you look at teams like Carolina, Columbus, Arizona or the Islanders you see that they can pretty much throw anyone in there and they will do well
