Sergachev or Cernek gone

Description
In my advanced thinking mindset, I believe Tampa is planning to lose either Sergachev or Cernek and would gladly capture the draft picks that they just gave up. They kept Cal Foote as opposed to his brother to play D next year. So top 4 would be Hedmen Mc Donough Serg/Cernek and Foote .. That is top 4 .. Tampa can then pick up 2 cheap veterans like we have now with Shatterkirk (biggest impact this year of ANY Bolt) Rutta Schen Colburn etc... So Cernek could draw a #1 and Serg could fetch 2 #1s .. so Tampa gets its picks back and the forwards are ALL back and Cap is met but 3D is a question.

This scenario of course is caused by Gourde and Tyler Johnson and fact we HAVE to match Cirelli and I see no way we trade Killorn.

I'd rather move Killer than Sergachev to be fair. Depending on Cernak's contract demand, I'd probably rather keep him as well.

Why trade two 1st picks for Sergachev when you can offer sheet him 6.3mill.

I agree serg gets a haul but a first for cernak is probably too much. A second and a cheap dman they can play now is probably a better value. Id imaginethe plan it to try and move some forwards like killorn or johnson or gourde if you can get them to waive. Resigning serg seems like it should be the priority.

Move Serg. He'll get a larger return. His contract demands have to be higher too. Cernak and the wya he plays is very underrated Cal Foote would be well suited next to Cernak.

Remember, you can only protect 3 dman in the expansion draft or 8 total.

Nothing against TBL. I just think it would be fun to see a GM actually use offer sheets effectively.

Sergachev and Cernak are both very likely in the long term plans here on LD and RD respectively. Tampa overpaid to get Coleman and Goodrow to replace it seems Killorn and Paquette, who are the easiest F to move. If one of Gourde/TJ is willing to waive, then sure, try and see if something is there but if not then Killorn, unfortunately, is gone. At least the return for him will be solid and hopefully he leaves with a Cup. While I believe Cal Foote is also in the future plans at RD, the fact that he didn't get even a couple games with all of the injuries on defense is concerning. He will be expected to be an every game contributor next year at minimum 3RD and so a few games now for experience could've been good for him. After being unwilling to include him in any trade these past 2 years, he better be ready game 1 next year or it's another bad move by JBB. If moving all these high pieces was on the table at the tdl, they could've foregone Goodrow initially and at least approached Anaheim about Manson, maybe offering 2020 1st, Foote and 2021 2nd or something for Manson at 50%. Maybe Anaheim says no but if they do make the trade then Tampa gets Manson for 3 shots at 2.05 million aav, and sets up their defense next year with Hedman, McD and Serg on the left, with Manson, Cernak and Rutta on the right, with Gaunce/Masin/Bogosian potentially as depth. I guess Tampa could make a move like this in the off-season depending on cap situation but that too 6 would've been nice for this playoff run as well.

Its certainly looking that way. Killorn has been really good. Get the feeling he's playing like its a contract year, like he doesnt want to get moved. Him and Palat have been the best of the 4. Johnson has been ok in small stints. Gourde has never been a $5million forward.

I would rather lose Serg and get a decent return and a couple of highish is picks than lose Killorn and Paquette. Paquette is now playing for his job with Goodrow and Coleman in the lineup.

Question for you though. I know you don't like him. But do you think Johnson deserved the contract he got when he signed it?

That gives you 2 righties and Hedman McD two lefties. Cernak isnt great on his off side.
