Making Detroit respectable but still bad

Created by: CapFriendlysFinest
Team: 2020-21 Detroit Red Wings
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 29, 2020
Published: Feb. 29, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Adding Eric Haula down the middle adds depth to a center position I dont think veleno is ready for just yet. Thought the injury history is worry some, having someone there to help the young is a nice addition. Adding Vatanen allows you to have a stronger D but not a great one

  2. Svechnikov, Evgeny
  3. 2021 3rd round pick (DET)

Detroit is going to have to massively over pay for any FA because of their current situation, they would probably be better off using available cap space to take on bad contracts for draft picks/young prospects before Seattle joins the league.

With Tampa’s cap trouble I think the chances of Stevie poaching one of their players is a good possibility. I think Tyler Johnson is a real trade candidate so long as he waives for Det

Yeah, but I have been really surprised by how competitive they have been. The hockey gods did them a solid after getting jobbed in the Duchene trade, with SJS going down the tubes.

Completely agree. I see Yzerman using the cap to his advantage

Saros is 9-4 since the coaching change. Started slow, but isn't having a horrible season. Definition of a horrible season is Jimmy Howard.
