How much would these D Men Cost

Created by: jmac490
Team: 2020-21 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 29, 2020
Published: Feb. 29, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I feel like the Leafs will have a couple trade chips available in Dermott and Johnsson, with AHL players and Picks also available.

This would be for the 2020-21 season.
I'm not sure how much faith I have in the Youth of the Blue Line, I'd prefer Liljegren to develop one more year in the AHL (he is pretty small still, game could use some maturing and considering he has been playing Sub 12 minutes every night, I don't think he will be able to develop well with little playing time)

I feel like the Leafs would need 2 defenseman. 1 defenseman to play with Rielly and 1 to play with Sandin. Honka could likely be had for cheap (although he hasn't been particularly well in the Liiga).

The cost on Pulock and Savard might be too high, but I'd be interested in seeing what the fans think of those respective teams.

Some people might not like Bortuzzo (because they may remind them of Polak), but I was a huge fan of Polak back in the day.

Columbus would ask for a package around Kerfoot and draft picks coming back.

Blues aren't trading Bortuzzo. He's far too valuable at his cap hit.

Would you do something around Johnsson? Picks involved would be higher.

That's unfortunate. You don't think the Blues would want to call up Reinke or Walman? If he was available, what would you hope to get back?

No... Columbus has no need for wings... we need centers Kerfoot is at least a capable center who might be able to play as a 2nd line center or middle 6 center anyways.

Kerfoot + what do you figure?
    My opinion would be Kerfoot + 2nd 21 for Savard + 3rd 21

Kerfoot and a 2nd for Savard.... no 3rd. Green got a 2nd and a B prospect... Savard is better then Green

I liked your idea of Kerfoot and Holl for Savard and Anderson, seems like a fair hockey trade for both sides.

Just thought position versatility would be worth more. Centers > Wingers

I can get the logic behind that, but Kerfoot is a middle 6 forward, not a B prospect. You also have to account for retention and trade deadline inflation.
Demelo > Green, but Demelo only got a 3rd in return.

I did like the Kerfoot + Holl for Savard + Anderson, but that still leaves the Leafs in the position of needing 1-2 more D.

Would you consider Kerfoot + 4th 20 + SDA for Savard and a RHD prospect?

That gives you a center for 3 years, and a center prospect to grow into that position in 3 years time. Then the Leafs can develop the D a bit more.

Edit: I guess Columbus doesn't really have any other RHD prospects in the system. Maybe Tarasov could be the prospect coming back since Elvis and Korpi can handle the goaltending

Columbus and Toronto aren’t a good match for a trade. They are both in the same position right now in terms of what they are doing and where they are with competing.

Jarmo has also said that he doesn’t intend on moving prospects so, if it’s not Savard and Anderson for Holl and Kerfoot there really isn’t a deal to be made.

Mikkola (LD) is the first call-up. No clue because he's not available.

Bortuzzo could absolutely be traded. Problem is that he's the 4th RHD on the roster and there is nothing (and I mean nothing) behind him so likely the Blues would want more than would actually be reasonable to pay. Reinke is the only other RHD worth considering in the system, and he has basically no NHL experience and is a borderline NHL player at best. If any one of Faulk, Pietrangelo, or Parayko go down for any amount of time, if Bortuzzo was also gone Blues would be ****ed.

Besides, Bortuzzo plays a great 4th line forward as well lol

For the record (and I'm sure you yourself know this as I've said it enough times; it's more for the benefit of others reading wink ) I wouldn't. I don't think Kerfoot adds anything that we don't already have in Jenner or Wennberg, and so I think if we're going to trade Savard we need to aim for a better #2C.

Borts is such an undervalued player. As a 7th dman, he's absolutely done everything that the team has asked of him and more. If you need to add a shot blocking, hard hitting dman, he's always giving it his 100% every game. He's not untouchable but the Blues would have zero reason to let him go in a senseless trade.
