Unsure:
- Patrick Russell and Haas get a contracts
Unlikely:
- Lavoie gets $900,000 on his ELC
- Oilers sign McPhee
- Lagesson gets $900,000 (Jones signed for less)
- Kuffner gets $925,000
- Archibald, Sheahan, & Ennis get paid that much
- Edmonton signs Hebig, Lowe, or Granlund
- Khaira is still with Edmonton next season
- Kris Russell plays ahead of Caleb Jones (Russell might not be an Oiler next year)
Highly unlikely:
- Benning agrees to $1,200,000 and Smith agrees to $2,000,000. Benning has arbitration rights and Holland has to offer at least $2,000,000 to qualify him. Smith is going to trigger all of his bonuses and will want a raise if he stays next season.
- Holland gets a 1st round pick from anyone in exchange for Puljujarvi
Just not happening:
- Oilers finding a way to sneak out from underneath their buy-out penalties
- Holland trading Starrett, Slepyshev, and a 7th round pick for another team's 4th round pick. Slepyshev is having a strong season in the KHL and he might be worth a 4th round pick on his own.
- Columbus trading it's 1st round pick. They burried themselves when they went all in last year, and they need to keep their draft picks now.
If the Oilers retain most of their current roster their biggest need remains a 3rd line centre, preferably a right-handed one too. Puljujarvi is Holland's most obvious trade chip, but he might be willing to sacrifice some of his young defensive depth for the right return. He is likely to also try moving Kris Russell, in order to clear cap space, but he could move Larsson if it makes sense to do so. It would not surprise me at all if Holland also tested the market for Neal, but I don't see him being able to move him.
