Draft day FLA TOR WSH

Created by: kailer_memeamoto
Team: 2020-21 Edmonton Oilers
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 2, 2020
Published: Mar. 2, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Oilers will be very reluctant to let go of Larsson before Bouchard proves himself (50/50 on if he becomes full time this year) as it leaves a glaring hole on the 2RD spot, but an enticing offer from Toronto OR Pittsburgh I believe could be worthwhile for the oilers.

Also, this is assuming Neal misses a few more weeks and Lucic continues to go on a ripper so the oilers don’t have to give up the 3rd round pick they use in the Larsson trade.

Trades

  1. Kapanen, Kasperi
  2. 2020 4th round pick (VGK)
  3. 2021 2nd round pick (TOR)
TOR
  1. Larsson, Adam
  2. 2020 3rd round pick (EDM)
Additional Details:
Comes with an extension slightly lower than the muzzin contract
2.
EDM
  1. 2021 5th round pick (VGK)
WSH
  1. Khaira, Jujhar
Additional Details:
According to most, Khaira had his best night against Winnipeg on Saturday. He recorded no points, had a 52.2 corsi for, and whiffed on 2 grade A chances. Kid has something in him, but he’s not going to find it in Edmonton. If this move isn’t made at the draft, he gets waived
3.
EDM
  1. 2020 2nd round pick (FLA)
  2. 2020 3rd round pick (COL)
  3. 2021 3rd round pick (FLA)
FLA
  1. Puljujärvi, Jesse [Reserve List]
Additional Details:
Oilers will be looking to recuperate the picks they lost in the AA deal. Florida is probably interested in JP, as they’ve got tons of young Finnish talent on the team already that he can develop chemistry with. Holland is firm on his price and Puljujarvi won’t come cheap considering his lack of production, but someone will definitely end up paying the price, hoping they can make Edmonton look like fools in this deal (which may very well happen)

The Leafs have no interest in Larsson as they have one of the most under rated defence cores in the entire NHL with 6 former Marlies and Rielly and Muzzen. Sandin is going to develope in a No. 1 pairing defencemand and Rielly in top 5 defencemen in the entire NHL.

The more I closely watch Dermott, Sandin, Liljegren, Holl, Marincin and Rosen play the more I realize the these 6 former Marlies are all very dependable NHL defenceman on very reasonable contracts and with Rielly and Muzzen give the Leafs a one of the deepest defencive cores in the NHL. These 6 fomer Marlies are now getting the job done for the Leafs who are missing Rielly, Muzzen and Ceci.

Dermott has really stepped up to be a very solid shut down defenceman in the NHL and can play the right side and the reason the Leafs have no use for Larsson. Do not know what the Oilers were thinking to trade Hall for Larsson and now Oilers want to trade Larsson.

If Leafs were moving Kappy for a RHD from Oilers, it's going to be for Bear instead of Larsson.

No point moving young forward still improving for a D that, to be fair, hasn't even been that good of late and have suffered from injuries, while also being pending UFA in a year...

Larsson has been the oilers best defensive defenseman in 2020. Had a bad 2019 I’ll give you that, but injuries will do that to you

Honestly I don’t see why the leafs wouldn’t move Kapanen. The leafs have guys in the AHL that could put up alright numbers in his position, that’s been their strength the past little while.

Also by many accounts bear is already a top pairing D man, as a biased oilers fan it would take a ton to get holland to even pick up his phone on that topic

All those guys are great, (besides marincin) but they very obviously struggle defensively... and Larsson’s strong suit is in his own end. When paired with another d man who can actually enter the o-zone, he looks perfect

Agree that Larsson is a good defender but not sure Leafs can afford him.

Larsson is nothing and has never been much. His underlying stats have been average at best and often below average. He's a better version of Polak, or Gudbranson and that is not worth half of Kapanen. No deal. He's worth a 3rd.

There is zero evidence to the contrary laugh all you want but he has no offense, hits a lot and his advanced stats are not really good, average at best or below. That is not worth Kapanen, Edmonton would add more.
