Description
Not gonna lie, I do like Conor Sheary. In fact, he is one of my favourite players in the league, but with all due respect, he stinks. The guy keeps falling down, fumbling the puck and missing wide of the net. How is he in the NHL? He should be in the ECHL to be honest. I don’t understand why the front office and leadership group view him so highly. Sure he’s fast and he forechecks. But he hasn’t even been driving for possession the last few games which is supposed to be his strength. Here is a list of alternatives I felt the Penguins could’ve traded for instead of Sheary.

No idea what the **** pitt was doing. I would've traded those 2 for a 5th rounder

I have no idea what GMJR was thinking getting Sheary back at the expense of Kahun. Kahun was such a better all around player. I wonder of Sid had any input on getting Sheary back.

Namestikov would have been much better add. Versatile, can play on any line and PK. Also he doesn't fall over all the time.
I would add jimmy Vesey to that list as I would have been happy if we got him instead off of buffalo.

But really the Pens got smaller and easier to push off the puck, picked up no defensive depth, and didn't improve on faceoffs. Big lose in my book.

No idea what the **** pitt was doing. I would've traded those 2 for a 5th rounder

It was a joke for sure. This trade wouldn’t even go through on NHL 20 for the Sabres, as Kahun is rated 86 whereas Sheary is 82 & Rodrigues is 81.

Ennis or Lehkonen would probably have been the best fits tbh. But if you ask most Habs fans, Lehkonen is worth Crosby and 3 1sts. (That’s an exaggeration)

I agree Jimmy Vesey was a much better option. Bigger & better defensively. I am a big Sheary fan but he stinks so bad. I have to think both Sully & Sid had strong input on that deal, but boy it has backfired on them devastatingly. They should’ve gone after a competent defenseman like Forbort & a center like Glendening. This team has no chance to win the cup!

Yeah Habs fans overvalue their players more than any other team’s supporters. They think Tatar is better than Marner.

Don't expect Khunackle to do anything offensively... he's worse than Sheary... aside form him, yeah, everyone els would be better

Kunhackl is not great at generating puck possession but he’s stronger defensively than Sheary. He would’ve been a great fit with ZAR out for the next 2-3 weeks.

Guys lets all just agree that Dominik Kahun is BY FAR the better player. It's not even close in my book and I couldn't wait to get rid of Sheary before and now we have to do it ll over again. Kahun is three times the player that Sheary is or was. Kahun is already playing great for Buffalo AND he played great with Malkin and Rust BUT for some reason JR decided to screw things up. Still really pissed at this Awful trade.

I agree on all points except that Kahun is actually 4 times the player Sheary is. Pens writer Dejan Kovacevic reported that Rutherford brought in Kahun in the off-season because the coaching staff wanted Kahun to replicate the role Sheary played. For some reason they weren’t satisfied enough therefore they decided to trade Kahun for the actual Sheary.

The only reason I can think of is the cap and the bonus problems. Because we got screwed on this.
Of course there is always the "reason" of Sullivan looking out for his family. Got to make sure Conor gets another NHL contract. I mean we can't have him not making millions.
They resign his ass I'm done with this team. I'll go watch Rugby.

Stopping watching because of Sheary is a bit excessive.

I have been a supporter of Rutherford's trade history, but recently his been a real stinker.

If the Pens continue trending downward, Sully & GMJR will both be gone. That’ll make it more likely for Sheary not to get resigned. But hey, Sid likes him too.

it's not about Sheary. It's about this team constantly putting "personal favors" over the fan base. There is a HUGE difference and you know it.

Sullivan's ... personality... feelings... have far too much influence on moves vs what is actually good for the team.

Well I’ve always heard that Sid likes playing with players like Simon & Sheary cuz they drive possession & choose to carry the puck on the zone entry rather than dump it in like Hornqvist. He’s very picky about his linemates.
