Team: 2019-20 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 3, 2020
Published: Mar. 3, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Just so we're clear, MTL has plenty of cap space; we had like 4M at the beginning of the season
Trades
MTL
  1. Foote, Cal
  2. Gourde, Yanni ($1,808,333 retained)
  3. Johnson, Tyler
  4. Joseph, Mathieu
Additional Details:
Either Joseph or Foote, and since you don't have a first we'll take someone else but like we're taking on a lot of cap here so you need to retain on someone, potentially two people; I chose Gourde
TBL
  1. 2020 2nd round pick (STL)
Additional Details:
The lowest of 2020 2nd (MTL), 2020 2nd (CHI) and 2020 2nd (STL). I do this because $8 358 333 is a lot of cap to take on and TBL needs cap space to sign their RFAs (Cernak, Sergachev, Cirelli)

Why would Tampa do this trade and retain money?

So Tampa, in all to save cap, trades a 2nd line center, a struggling player who still is very young with a heavier cap, a top prospect and a middle of the line prospect for a low second?

ok

Fine you can have Chicago's second, but it starts with Gourde and Joseph

im telling you right now, I dont think Tampa would even need to do that. Why trade to a team in the same division? Just send Gourde out west
