I didnt see the game tonight but i still think he would be a great fit in Calgary. It obviously wouldn't happen until the off season though. I would much rather spend 5M for 5 years on right handed shot Johnson then 10M for 7 years on left handed shot Hall

Not many teams could/want to take on Johnson's 5m X 4 years, without sending similar money back to Tampa. Of course the purpose of a Johnson trade is cap relief. Tampa just might be "too good" for Johnson to waive his NTC for virtually any NHL team.

I feel bad for whoever gives hall 10 million, he'll never live up to that contract

CGY? Probably won't get more than Bennett.

I wonder of CBJ does Wennberg swap

It's looking more and more like the MVP season was the outlier season in his career.

I'm with @palhal on the Johnson trade.

What would it cost to land Palat in the offseason given the cap crunch in Tampa?

    Pittsburgh Penguins

    Tyler Johnson

    Tampa Bay Lightning

    Jack Johnson

I honestly don’t think Tampa is gonna get much for him knowing Tampa is in a cap crunch and that most teams can’t afford that contract without giving some contract back in return.

Btw the trade offer isn’t serious lol

Johnsons like 3rd in Post season scoring for TBL since he entered the league
    if nothing else he's a 3rd line upgrade .

    MTL would take him
but we'd want a pick or a prospect of Value if we're taking on that contract
He's got skill but anything over 3.5m -3.75m is to much as he cant play head to head vs top line players game in and out.(he's a 3rd line Center or 2nd line RW ideally which is what MTL could use during their rebuild)

    Johnson , and a 1st for Kulak

    TBL gets a depth Defensman who's a solid #7 D for a cup team .
TBL clears 3+ m cap a year for 2 years then 5 million

    TBL gets to dump cap
MTL gets a 3rd line Center/Winger who's if nothing else a clear improvement on Weal

    Hedman77,

You often say over and over that TB is such a great place to play and players love being there. The taxes, weather and good team make it very attractive. What would entice Tyler Johnson to waive his FULL NTC to leave the team? Nyheim answer is nothing.

Killorn will be given away for nothing after July 1 when he has a M-NTC. That might get you enough room for one of Serg/Cirelli. That Vas contract might be a real killer going forward...

Again Palat has a NTC. Doubt he has motivation to leave Tampa.

Johnson isn't a cap dump, he's a useful NHL player. Sure he's overpaid, but so are lots of guys. That trade is absolutely ridiculous.

I could see Minnesota acquiring about him, given their need for centres. Maybe Nashville if they found a taker for Kyle Turris. If Edmonton could squeeze him in he'd probably do well there, Florida might want to add a centre after giving away Trochek (although Johnson's salary is similar). I wonder if the Avalanche would give him a go with their cap space.

I don't think the Lightning would except a big return for any of the guys they may need to move out this summer, but demanding them to be attached with a first rounder is pretty aggressive.
