had a buddy over watching the leaf game last night. he is a big leaf fan. i asked his opinion on Marner. he loves the talent, but does not think he is what Toronto needs to win.

so i thought would a Marner for Kane trade work? i'm a hawk fan btw.

Toronto get the proven leader they need on a shorter contract for a little less money. Kane will definitely still perform over those 3 year at a high level. he is amazing. no one better say no to this b/c of age. if Toronto wants to win in the next 2 years. Kane helps that. then his contract is over and Toronto has breathing room.

Chicago: gets younger. same money, only 2 more years. i still really like Marner, probably high on the salary, but who know how much better he will be in 2 years.

i'd put a first going to Chicago b/c i think Toronto would need to sweeten this, Kane is still 100% a better player. maybe not a first, but something. site wont let me actually do the trade... maybe there is my answer ha

CHI will want to wait for three years and re-sign Kane for 5m...He and Toews are the types to stay with CHI...

I can see the Leafs trading Marner if they don't make the playoffs this season, which seams less and less likely, but if they would it would be for a top pair RHD

Chicago shouldn't do it hands down despite the age difference, Kane is still a better player and his contract is worth every penny on a shorter term.

It would be special if they can play their entire career wearing only one uniform. I know their is a camp out there who would like to see them move ... start the rebuild. However such moves it doesn’t necessarily make the team better. My feeling is you continue to build around the “hall a framers”

Here all the positives (but it could get bad) DeBrinicat rebounds from this nightmarish season. Kubalik scores 20 - 25 goals next season. Strome produces a 60 point season. Boqvist & Dach continue to develop and produce as 2nd year players.

Team MUST play better defensively. Reduce shots on goal. Play with the puck. Manage the puck. And provide puck support.
