The Isles have less of a cap crunch than you might think. They could afford $13M with some wiggling, but that's an insane offer to begin with. Thanks for the picks

haha you're welcome. What kind of wiggling are you referring to? You mean trade a piece or two. How much are Toews and Pulock gonna fetch, not bridge deals at 26 and 25 years old respectively. Could be dicey for Lou. 4 1st round picks should soften the blow though.

Pulock gets 6x6 territory. Def not a bridge. But Toews will more than likely get one. Already being speculated by Arthur Staple. 2-2.5 per for 2 years. Maybe a 3 if they go 3 years. Not crazy

Trade wise: Leddy ($5.5M) for picks, Hickey ($2.5M) for picks, buyout Leo, and who knows how close Ladd was to being gone (I realize Parise was coming back the other way, but NYI doesn't make that trade unless they're saving money. Parise has more $ and term - wouldn't have made sense in a straight swap)

All that wheeling and dealing just to get Barzel long term, So the "trade" is Barzel for seven years and one year of Brodie for 4 1sts, second and third and Domi. Plus It's an insanely high AAV for Barzel.
Just spend cap on Domi get a UFA or two and keep your picks.

haha I'm glad you enjoyed that. MB should have an itchy trigger finger this year on these offer sheets considering how he was embarrassed for not overpaying for Aho last year.

No one is offering barzal 13 M. I could see him offering 10-11 but isles match that easily.

The Centremen UFA market is bone dry this summer. Trading for a 1st line centreman or multiple offer sheets is the way to go. Brodins a candidate to get resigned next year at Petry money and Petry departs in free agency.

All RFA offer sheets should be overpayments. If not, you'll get embarrassed like MBs attempt with Aho.

All good points. Perhaps Ladd and Leddy would need to be moved.

Yeah and Barzal at the 10.4 limit is already an overpayment but the Isles would easily match so there's no point.

Barzal is a very talented young player, but I don't see 13 million. I don't even see the 10-11 million Isles fans want to give him..

8-9.5 mill is a lot of money and I think that is the appropriate range for him. Kind of surprising to see fans wanting to give him more than that.

Agreed I use to think that way. But an 84 mill cap space next year changes things and that 10-11 mill offer is laughable now.

You're giving a player who wasn't statistically performed better than their rookie season the highest cap hit in the league, and not even on the longest possible term.

Islanders match, you look like a **** because you've destroyed the RFA market. Islanders don't match, you lose 4 first round picks and are competing in a division where you're the fifth best team, even with Barzal.

haha of course he is. I refer to the Habs having negotiating rights prior to next offeseason (July 1 2021). I'm sure if he plays well and he likes MTL, the Habs could offer 6yr 33 mill. (Petry money) ... or the Habs crap out next year and he gets traded for a 1st round pick at Trade deadline. And the cosmic ballet goes on.

Easy big fella. Calm down we're all amigos here. I merely offer a scenario whereby the Habs can afford 13 mill for Barzal and the Isles can't.
