Description
I'm not good at valuing prospects, contract dumps, and draft picks, and I am trying to do all of that in the trade with Vancouver to rid them of a prohibitive contract. What would make more sense? Gudas and Lehner are pet pickups of mine that I'd like to see. It's too many years for Gudas, but you typically have to over promise to get guys to come to a bad team. I think Lehner would be interested in the stability of term as he states he's had problems with GMs due to his well-known mental health issues.

It's a rebuild where you do things like take on bad contracts for prospects or picks. The signings are just to try to not have as disastrous a season as this season. Having a losing season is one thing. Getting beat so bad that you stop learning anything is another.

True. Pay a little for a guy that can help for now. It's not like Krug or Pietrangelo are the right moves for the moment. Tons of money for a single guy when you need most of a team is a waste of money.

Who isn't taking anyone's spot. Could be Greene. Could be a few other reasonable but not great defensemen that will most likely want a number of years. If you can get one for less time, you certainly want to obviously. Trying to be realistic with what someone would want to actually come to the team.

I like gudas but I think that is a bit of an overpayment for him if it was 3 years I could accept it more.

Yeah, agreed. I state that the term is especially problematic in the description, but I'm wondering how eager anyone is going to be to go to Detroit. May have to overpay. I take your point though. Thanks for the input.
