Not even close for Ekblad, Any deal involving Ekblad to Toronto starts with William Nylander and probably add Timothy Liljegren as well.

Two blue chip prospects are the main pieces. Then a young good but not start winger and a 2nd. I didn't send crap

Panthers aren’t trading Ekblad.....you don’t trade a top pair RHD under contract unless you can replace. In your trades that’s doesn’t happen

The whole idea of blowing up this core frankly doesn't make sense, but that was the rumour I heard, so I tried to see if it was possible.

You just don't trade a guy like Barkov. Period.
No one will take Bob
Huberdeau is on a darling contract.

That only leaves Yandle and Ekblad as parts of the "core" to trade. I suppose Matheson but he to is on a darling contract

Matheson and Yandle would be the two most likely to get traded. I heard the rumor as well.

Can Florida even blow it up if they wanted to?

-Their best players are young and would be part of any rebuild.
-Many of their other players have NTC/NMC's and/or long term contracts.
-They just finished adding a bunch of UFA's in the past offseason.

I think this rumor makes literally no sense and I'm shocked its even out there. This team is already all in, they just have underachieved this year. (Mainly due to goal-tending)

Just for some context, If Bobrovsky would have played as well as Carey Price has this year, they'd be in the playoffs ahead of Toronto....... That's only if Bob had Price's numbers this year. Imagine if he was remotely close to the numbers he had with Columbus the last couple years.....

Florida is a good team. They just need to get Bobrovsky back to being even 80% of what Bobrovsky was and they're golden.

You're right it's not even close. Leafs have no interest in spending 7.5m on Ekblad if it costs than 3.2m Kapanen, 1m Liljegren....and the Leafs have still have 3,3m for another player. Plus the Leafs afren't trading their best (maybe only) good forward prospect and two second rounders. Don't know if any team would pay such much just to acquire Ekblad, but it sure ain't going to be the Leafs.
But on CF for some reasons the Leafs have to overpay for any RHD even if it cripples them with a high cap player.
