Does he want a challenge

Team: 2020-21 Detroit Red Wings
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 5, 2020
Published: Mar. 5, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
You might laugh at me but I truly believe it would be good for the Wings. I mean, they get a proven starter which has been a need for them since Howard's decline has started.

Plus, having Holtby around for 5 years means that the Wings could draft a goalie in 2021 maybe, take the time they need to develop him and then have Holtby mentor him for 2-3 years until he's ready to be a full time starter.

Except Eriksson is not a 3LW, he is a healthy scratch.

No I think he's still a reliable bottom sixer, I just think he has no room in VAN considering there are a ton of bottom sixers there...

On our team Eriksson would be a #6LW (not even counting Rakell there), and we are almost as bad as Detroit.

Why wait until 2021 to draft a goalie? From the Washington pick on, you guys should be looking at top 3 goalies left on the board.

Edit: I just noticed that you have Vancouver paying a second and fourth to get rid of Eriksson. You think we'd pay a third and fourth to acquire him?

1-fair enough on Eriksson
2-2021 is just an example. They could try to add a 2020 1st and draft Askarov... who knows?

As a Detroit fan I think It looks fair for Eriksson. Now if it was for a 2020 1st and Eriksson for 5th I'd be willing to help him move.

But so far Yzerman has never taken a cap dump but I mean how can you pass up a deal like that.

I hope that's true because Detroit signing Holtby would be pointless Detroit isn't in a position where they can drop $8M a season on a 30 year old goalie.

I'd sign lehner long term but holtby looks super ordinary in Washington right now. No way I'd give him 8 million

@reelkena this is more like what you have to give to get rid of Eriksson imo just based off of many cap dumps. I know you will probably disagree, but to take that much cap it's normally around this price or one 1st.

I dont hate this idea. Also I fully agree with your name. I just don't think we have the picks to offer. If we could trade Sutter for a pick and something else i would happily do this. I didn't start with picks in my offers just because we didn't have the surplus.
