to be fair, Edmundson was forced to play on his off side. Maybe he needs to be put back on 3LD and stick there.

We have 5 left handed defenseman at the moment. People don’t get free passes any longer.

I get that. It will take evaluating to see what balance of what combinations work best and with which person on what side. Slavin is the only one who seems to be flawless no matter where he plays.

this is what happens when CAR's idiot GM get 2 Dmen (1 injured) instead of a tender when both CAR tenders are injured and no NHL caliber tenders left....

What did Ned do tonight that was the problem? I agree the Skjei trade didn’t make a lot of sense but Vatanen was brought in knowing Pesce was done for the season.

Tonight was an Eddy special. Let's not be frank, lets not lie. I thought Dzingel looked really good with Williams and Staal. He gave that line a speed aspect. Eddy shipped out a goal, took a HTS penalthy, had a wide open goal (created by Dzingel) and missed. I think blaiming Eddy is understandable, but this was one of Dzingel's better games.

Ned has been good to my eyes during his time - he gave one to Philly last night. The rest was meltdown city.

The Skjei trade makes sense if you think he’s underperforming in NYR and you think he’s a top 4 dman moving forward...especially since he has term. Think the Canes like what they have in their pipeline coming up and had an extra 1st. Gonna have to see long term how it goes.

Vatanen trade to me made no sense - he isn’t brought in if he’s not right handed. He’s not going to be a top pairing guy when he’s back.

22 games without a goal for a goal scorer isn’t it man. At some point, he has to produce goals. If he’s going to play, he better start producing...

Yep idiot GM...nailed it. Lehner was the only NHL level goaltender who was available. I’ve heard the Hawks tried to strong arm Canes for a 1st plus a prospects - so they went a different way.

Dzingel isn't a goal scorer. He's a playmaker. It's why I've been wanting him to be with Aho or Svechnikov, someone that has a heavy shot.

3 20 goal seasons with OTT, and before coming to Carolina he had 66 goals and only 72 assists. His career shooting % before coming to Carolina is almost double what he’s doing this year.

He’s a goal scorer and needs to start potting some goals. Saying he’s not a goal scorer is flat out incorrect. It’s probably the single reason why the Canes signed him, to provide depth scoring.

Vatanen slots in behind Dougie. He’d be a placeholder til Dougie was back then become the #4 and add to the 2nd PP unit. He was brought in knowing Pesce was out on the cheap.

You know the canes better than me but I still don’t see why the Skjei trade was made. That first and cap room could have been used in a better spot. CAR already has to many LHD. That 1st coulda been used for Lehner or some scoring up front.

Canes weren’t spending a 1st on a rental. They traded a prospect and conditional 4th for Vatanen. The Canes were operating under the impression that Dougie wasn’t coming back during the season - that’s why they put him on LTIR for cap space when they made the Skjei and Vatanen trades. Pesce was still a question mark because they were thinking they might be able to get him back if he didn’t have surgery. He just made that decision this week.

I think the Skjei trade says more about Gardiner than anything.

Goalscorers have more goals than assists, look at Kane, Senko etc. Dzingel is a playmaker. He's only got 66 career goals, calling him a goal scorer is just FLAT out wrong. He needs teammates to pass the puck too

Ahh, got it - So a goal scorer needs more goals than assists. So really I should have said Dzingel needs to be producing more assists? Either way, he’s on pace for 37 points....he needs to get his **** together

Yet he's still among our top 6 producing forwards. My point is Dzingel isn't the issue

Your point is mostly incorrect. He isn’t THE issue, but he’s not part of the solution right now either.

You can watch 2 mins of him being depressed here...

We've had 3 forwards score since tha Ayres game, you can't strictly blame Dzingel for it

I can blame whomever I want, it’s my post and my opinion...

My point isn’t about the past few weeks - I said he’s paid to put up (Goals&wink points to which he’s not doing. 37 points isn’t good enough and you are the only person I’ve come across that thinks he’s doing ok. His goal and assist profiles are more like a 4th liner than a middle 6 playmaker.
