he wont sign long term
he's 27 just 10 days after the cut off that would have made him a UFA this summer
no chance he signs more then a 1 year deal

that being said even considering that he's likely going UFA by choice sooner then later
he's likely to land you a 2nd and a top prospect or a 1st and a B level prospect

If it was MTL for example a 1st in 2020 and Evans or a 2nd and Poehling would make sense
(not saying id do it but its fair market value )

if they could get him to agree to an extension with term though the return gets better .

Not giving him away. Just with the cap issues and him being due a raise then he might be the odd man out. I think he ends up either signing or receiving a one year deal through arbitration. Could end up as a deadline deal if they end up coming up short next year for the playoff chase. With everyone claiming the panarin bump I just don’t see them getting a first rounder for him. I’d take a second and a solid prospect
