Chicago says no easily. Let me explain why; on defense we have...
Left side: Keith, De Haan, Maatta, Carlsson, Koekko
Right side: Boqvist, Murphy, Mitchell, Seabrook (Risto would only be good enough to replace Seabs)
Development defensive pool: Beaudin, Regula, Vlasic

So clearly unless we are getting back a 1st line LHD that is better then Keith, Chicago does not need defense so Risto is out of the picture and with his cap hit he's pretty close to being a dump anyway.

If you want Strome, you are going to have to include a A prospect and maybe more depending who it is or the 1st round pick plus unless you're willing to give up a sure bet top 6 winger stud.

If Chicago doesn't need defense, shouldn't Risto fit the bill for them just perfectly lol awesome face

All joking aside, I guess Mittelstadt is an option. He's an A-prospect. So if we think the deal as Mittelstadt+something for Strome, what would you like that something to be?

I usually like your posts and ideas and think you're one of the more knowledgeable guys on here. That said, Mittelstadt I don't think is a A prospect. IMO he's a bottom 6 center and a huge downgrade from Strome. We have Evan Barratt in the wings to play a bottom 6 center role already, although he would not be ready next season and spend a year in the AHL. Mittelstadt is coming off of his ELC also and so far hasn't proven a lot. I think you'd have to add a fair amount to get Strome for him; keep in mind these two are only 1 year difference in age.

Well thanks.

I actually think Mittelstadt and Strome have quite the same career path - struggling in the team that drafted them. A change of scenery helped Strome massively. I think the case with Mittelstadt would be the same.

But I digress. As I asked before, I'd like to know what would you want in addition to Mittelstadt in exchange to Strome.

Yeah, but for now he is what he is. I think you'd have to move a 1st or at least a 2nd with him to get Strome who's proven to be a 50 to 60 point guy at 22 years old.

Nah, I'd drop out in that case.

Would rather try a 3-way trade involving Montour/Risto, Strome and some asset that CHI wants, which seems to be a high-potential future asset, solid TOP6 winger or a solid first pair LHD...

As you know, we don't need defense so 3 way might be the way to go. Maybe involve Toronto somehow as Kap would be interesting to Chicago but he alone of course is not going to get Strome.

Mittelstadt is at the point of make it or break it as #8 pick or he'll be labeled a bust unfortunately. He certainly was highly touted during the draft, but Buffalo's development sucks and clearly they signed him a year too early.

We need a new gm sooo bad. If the ask for strome is mittelstadt and a 2nd, I'm in. Minimally, I would be thrilled if our new gm at the very least, tried to bring in a couple middle 6 centers, that were, ya know, centers.

As a Ranger fan I think Mittlestadt and a 2nd would be fair. Mitt and a 1st would be too much. Asplund and a 2nd seems too little.

Yeah I'd do also Mittelstadt+2nd for Strome...not sure if CHI would follow through.
