If you're asking if this team would be the best in the league, the answer is no. That D is still pretty bad. You only have one first pairing defenseman. Can they be a contender? Maybe. I'd definitely be more confident if their defense core was better.

Anaheim would probably want Vesalainen and a 1st at least - they apparently wanted Marner/Nylander when the Leafs wanted Manson.

No this team isn't a contender, not strong enough at center, has holes on defense, Vatanen and Manson don't move the needle enough and the bigger issue then the defense is down the middle. Also Maurice still coaches like it's 1997 so that's a problem.

Chevy hasn't done enough to fill out this roster at various points over the last three to four seasons and now he's lacking assets to improve where it's needed and he's too afraid to part with picks for anything but rentals apparently so it's just wait around for drafted prospects to develop I guess, hopefully the window to win hasn't closed by then.

Still think there's a problem in the room as well.
