With 2 goals and an assist in his 1st game- tough to find fault with Geekie...but scouting reports on him do indicate that he is not a slow skater- just slow out of the hole...he does have a good skill set- but the "slow out of the hole" thing is what has plagued Lias- and contributed to that disaster...so I would look to avoid prospects like that. The Canes prospect I would push for is Rees.

As far as the Vegas trade- I don't think they will trade Krebs....but that is the type/level of prospect I would need to see in any trade involving ADA. ADA is a blossoming star- who still has a few levels of improvement in his defense yet to come...so unless the Rangers were to get back a prospect with a sky high ceiling (good luck getting other teams to move these types of prospects) I am not interested in moving him- other than to the left side across from Trouba, Fox, or Nils.

I agree just felt as though Georgiev gonna garner a 2nd plus and I don’t think it’s gonna be a really good prospect coming back with that which is why I made it geekie ready doesn’t matter who it is just a center that’s ready to contribute and it makes it better if he had already played with gauthier

I don't know if Carolina has any top tier prospects- but they are loaded with 2nd and 3rd tier prospects....I am not familiar with the particular development of any of these guys other than the prospect reports which come out- so I don't know haw the Canes themselves value any one in particular...my point, though, is that since Lias' foot speed has been problematic in his development- I would be very hesitant- and would do extra diligence on another prospect with the same limitation. Keep in mind- there are many NHLers who have overcome this limitation- and in that regard I still haven't given up on Lias.

I definitely agree but I also feel like Lias hockey IQ wasn’t the best either and he is an north south player that pretty much played a dump and chase type game whereas it feels like while geekie might be similar in the thing u said his hockey IQ looks to be a bit better

Could be wrong here- but I thought Lias’ Hockey IQ was a strength- one of the problems with evaluating him from this year is that he was given so few minutes- and when he played it was with guys like Smith and Haley.

He did himself no favors- but what is head scratching is that you would think his aggressive/hard on the puck/north-south style would make him the apple of DQ’s eye....but so not the case!

I would have originally agreed with you but when he was given the chance at an expanded role he didn’t take advantage of it
