2020 fall with 88 mill cap

Description
A bunch of crazy, loco stuff.

Hoffman replaces Oshie when Oshie is essentially traded to Seattle June 2021.

Khudobin as insurance, in case Sammy begins to struggle.

Shattenkirk for depth, and if one of our young D begins to struggle, he can be a plug and play puck mover.

Panik has looked good lately, he's younger than Hags and plays a pretty good 2 way game, and we can plug him into different spots if needed. So keep him.

McMichael gets time on the third line wing with Eller and Hoffman, which should be great experience.

Crazy stuff huh?

That's a lot of money for a 3rd line RW. You should have used that on a RD.

Like I said in the description, Oshie is gone after June 2021, so Hoffman becomes 2RW.

We have young defenseman that need play time. Give them a try first.

Let’s assume Seattle doesnt take Oshie and takes Dowd instead Then what?

GMBM and Seattle will work out a trade for Oshie. It's happened before. If not, so what? Our top 9 will be NUTSO good.

If we get cap strapped again, dump Kuzy for cheap, move McMichael to 3C, Eller 2C.

1) You do not need Shatty, especially at $2M...better off w/ stop gap one year of Mike Green even as a $1M-$1.5M 7th D swan song guy...
2) You don't need Hoffman, you are under-selling Boyd and Sprong as bottom 6 difference makers. Hoffman is an overpay that will never happen
3) Oshie is not going anywhere...insider knowledge here, but the Caps brass love him, the city loves him, the locker room loves him...he has evolved into everything they got from Knuble and more, plus Oshie has expressed the desire to mentor with some of the associate coaching staff and will stay in DC, and after his playing days be an Orpik-style coaching pipeline guy. Plus he still can contribute if he's healthy throughout the remainder of his deal.
4) Fix the defense...especially the right side. I'm olay parting w/ Gudas and Jensen, they make way too many mistakes.
5) Get a real 3RHD...Carlson...blank....Siegs....depth...don't force Fehervary to develop on his weak side.
6) I'm fine with Dillon, Orlov, Fehervary, Alexeyev, and maybe even LucasJo working the Left. Any combination of those guys is talented and serviceable.
7) Veteran goalie is a good idea. Wish the Caps could bring back Halak affordably, or a Mike Smith type guy. Lehner is too pricey and some others are too inconsistent/unproven (ie Subban, etc)
8) The cap won't be $88M...just saying, I think $85 is the real most-likely top end.

I agree, I don't think he's going anywhere either. However, he isn't going to hold up to age 37 I suspect. That contract is going to be rough the last couple of years, and we'll need a top scoring winger by the time he withers. I'm not sure we have that in our system yet. Leason maybe, but he seems to be having an underwhelming first AHL season.

A RHD would be nice, but who?
