The hunt for the elusive top 6 center

Created by: JayTea
Team: 2020-21 Minnesota Wild
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 9, 2020

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Or maybe I should spell it centre so people stop thinking Wild fans mean middle 6 centers who sometimes play top 6 wing like Kerfoot. ;)

Unlikely to happen, because Tampa always gets bailed out of their cap crunch and somehow never seems to lose a valuable player but in my fantasy world all of their NTC come back to haunt them so they take a deal that gives them a cheap excellent defenseman to fill Sergachev's spot and a guy who has upside but hasn't done enough to demand a bunch of money. Greenway also helps add some size to a team who could probably use it.

What would an 8 year contract look like for Cirelli on a team with no tax advantages?

Trades
MIN
  1. Cirelli, Anthony [RFA Rights]
Additional Details:
Tampa probably adds a pick.
TBL
  1. Brodin, Jonas ($2,000,000 retained)
  2. Greenway, Jordan [RFA Rights]
Additional Details:
Brodin agrees to the typical Tampa under market extension with a full NMC that will fix their problem next season, but further complicate their issue later. They also can now trade Sergachev. Greenway helps them fill out their roster on a cheap 2 year deal.

Him or Kahkonen, whoever has a better camp I guess. They could go sign a veteran short term to buy Kahkonen some time too I guess.

They're currently in a WC spot, they won't be in the lottery if it stays that way...

Tampa declines. As you mentioned we already have Sergechev, Hedman and McDonah on the lefty side.

Only Tampa can give Cirelli 8 years, So unless it's a sign and trade Minny can only do 7 years. And no way is Cirelli worth $7.5 million per. Perhaps $6 million per but $7.5 million is way too much.

Cool story, guessing you didn't read the part where I said unlikely to happen and this is my fantasy world where Tampa is forced to part with players they can't afford to sign due to their past NTCs coming back to haunt them?

No I did not, sorry. I do not think Tampa gets away this summer with theft. I see offer sheets for Serg around 6.5 and Cirelli around 5.5. Cernack is probably safe with a bridge at 2.8 same as Carlo on the bruins. Getting NTC players at 5 million plus trtaded a real problem. No one will do TB any favors. We will have to give assets to move and put something in the player's drink for them to sign off.

He is projected around 15-20th overall last I checked. 1st round exit might put them in the ball park, but even then would he even be close to NHL ready? With the cap ceiling possibly going up to 88.2M they might be able to sign Holtby.

I like the concept and the Brodin to Tampa for Ciereli, not sure why you paid him so much money, if you have aquired him do a 3-5 year deal at 4/5 million

Wasn't meant to be accurate, that's why I asked what would he be worth on a long term deal.
