Florida shedding salary not cap

Created by: Boomer125

Initial Creation Date: Mar. 9, 2020

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
So what's the real issue in Florida? Is it true that the owner wants to shed salary? If so how does both Fan bases feel about a Nylander/Ekblad swap - saves Florida 4 million in salary over Nylander a term and 16 million on the back end of Ekblads term a grand total of 20 million in savings.

Anyone really know whats going on in Florida

Not looking to get lit up over the trade just simply curious if this is style type of trade that Florida would be looking to do, salary for Johnsson in the middle 2 years is like 1,750,000 I think

I’d imagine that Florida declines quite quickly.

Ekblad is finally showing that he’s one of the best defenceman in the game. If Florida is looking to shed salary obligations, it’ll be by moving someone cheaper like Matheson, or a couple of their $2-3 mil guys

And Nylander hasn't shown he's well worth his 6.9? I believe Florida would rather move a Mathieson or the a few 2 million dollar players but this scenario would entice a conversation at the very least

Can you stop trading Nylander? He is as good as Marner and fits in a possession style system better than Mitch does.
Not that I am suggesting a trade but if any of the big 4 are moving it is Mitch.

Honestly, Nylander has been excellent. Moving Ekblad leaves the Panthers D in shambles though.

Mitch is a tough move untill 2022 these next 2 seasons his money paid out is 15/16 million each year, after 2022 it's 8 million teams do concern themselves with actual money out

It sure does, but Leafs look built after this trade.

Hahah, Leafs with any legit RD look really good. Most of the guys you guys chase on here are unavailable though.

My fantasy mind agrees with you, my realistic mind screams 1 has got to move to actually tackle the back end with quality talented players not just spot fillers

I'd disagree on any legit RD, there are several RDs being fantasy traded that are not legit RDs and still out of reach of fans had any real influence lol

Well, they have 9.25 coming off the books already between Dadanov and Hoffman.

That's true, what's the plan to replace those 2 players production?

If the rumor that ownership wants 10m off the salary for next season is true, there might not be a plan.

I only brought it up because it's common practice for budget teams to aquire players that have had healthy bonuses paid out which lowers actual salary while not lowering the AAV eg: Nylander and Johnsson
