Lundqvist and Domi to WPG

Created by: Kotkaniemi15
Team: 2020-21 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 2, 2020
Published: Mar. 9, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
The Domi trade was taken from Jetman’s Armchair GM Post.

That 2021 1st could be pretty useful in a trade, but I don’t know what we would trade for it yet.

Also let me know if you think the pick in the Lundqvist trade should be higher, or have different conditions.

Trades
1.
MTL
  1. Heinola, Ville
  2. Roslovic, Jack [RFA Rights]
  3. 2021 1st round pick (WPG)
WPG
  1. Domi, Max [RFA Rights]
  2. 2020 4th round pick (WPG)
2.
MTL
  1. Lundqvist, Henrik ($2,000,000 retained)
Additional Details:
Lundqvist is now the Rangers’ 3rd goalie. According to Dave Pagnotta, the Rangers are considering trading him / buying him out, the latter being mainly so that he can have a job in the NHL on another team. This way the Rangers clear most of Lundqvist’s cap hit, while giving him a chance to play on another team. Montreal uses their cap space to their advantage, getting a backup goalie who can play until Primeau is ready. And if it doesn’t work out, the Canadiens can trade him elsewhere at half retained salary.
NYR
  1. Pezzetta, Michael
  2. 2021 5th round pick (OTT)
Additional Details:
New York gets Ottawa’s 5th if Lundqvist plays 20 or more games for the habs.

WPG isn’t doing that deal, and on what alternate universe would the Canadiens want Lundqvist unless there is some secret cheat code you get by spending more on goalies in one season that anybody in the history of the NHL.

The trade wasn’t mine, it’s from a Jets fan. I would be fine with changing it up a bit, but I would like a forward in the deal coming back. I’ll think of a different offer.

Montreal would want Lundqvist because they’re getting a backup for next to nothing. The amount of salary being allocated to goalies doesn’t matter since Montreal has the cap space for their whole team.

Seriously, actually think about the situation people. As I said in my previous post:

Lol asking people to read on here is apparently too much to ask...... You literally detailed everything in the post clear as day (Assuming you didn't edit it afterwards)

For those too lazy, if this trade is done after July 1st signing bonus pay out, Lundqvist would only cost like 3.5M in actual dollars. So given that the Habs don't spend up to the cap anyways....what the problem again?

Oh that's right signing Thomas Greiss to a 4x3 year is sooo much better..... rolling eyes
