Mittelstadt - Buffalo fans input

Created by: yikes

Description
Just suggested a trade where buffalo gets a starter next year. Jones has not been bad in the past few weeks and seemed to have regained his footing. The sharks need a major change and so just suggested a jones trade with conditional picks in his play for the weery. Obviously I’d welcome other trade options; if Jones isn’t your slice then what’s Casey’s value, etc? I’ve seen fans say he’s worth little and I’ve seen fans say he’s worth value still, I’ve seen fans say his best is behind him from junior and fans say his best is yet to come. He’s worth under 2 mill and hes worth over 3. Just want input and suggested a trade to start discussion

Mittelstad Has been a disappointment, but at least he’s cheap. Martin Jones is terrible and expensive

That’s why I tried to mention he hasn’t been terrible recently. As well as is he much worse then your current situation? I would want to throw Ukko whatever his name is into the mess so abruptly. I’m a huge fan of the kid but goalies need time and not every goalie is carter hart.

Stability in net for the next few years and potential for a starter

And so if not jones that what’s Casey’s value and biggest weaknesses and what’s gone right and what’s gone wrong?

It's a ludacris offer. Jones is horrible and has a horrendous contract.

Easy no from Buffalo.

1. Mitts is not a cap dump, and it has some value
2. Jones has been bad in recent seasons and we don’t need his contract
3. We have Ullmark, which looks like a starter and plays pretty solidly, we just need a partner for it for a couple of years

Cap space is a premium. Mittelstadt is still 21. I dont see why Buffalo would. Sabres could use a goalie, but cant take a flyer on Jones bouncing back. If he doesnt thats another big waste of cap, which is quickly building in Buffalo. Ullmark is a starter. Sabres struggled when he was hurt

And it’s understandable as to why I’m asking his value, as I see jones as maybe worth a 3rd (more valuable to us if he plays well but as well know goalies are consistently inconsistent to find). Plus I added true and conditional picks so I would say a first is a stretch with Casey’s current trajectory but not impossible.

Mittelstadt is terribly conditioned and has not won a board battle in his appx 100 games. He has decent transition game, but his inability to win battles makes any sustained offensive zone pressure pretty much impossible. That being said I still think he will become a 3rd line Winger
