The lack of skill down the middle is killing this team. It affects us in every single area. A little bit of lottery luck to get ourselves someone like Byfield or Stutzle would be huge for us. Assuming that doesn't happen, Chayka needs to do something to acquire a true top line center, and I'd be more than willing to shop OEL to do it. I doubt there's a move like that available for us though. From a business standpoint, we can't take another step back. But from a hockey perspective, I think it makes a ton of sense to sell off a few pieces and regather in two years.

Unfortunately the coyotes needed to do something to get fans interested with every other sports teams in the valley missing the playoffs and it worked partially but they forgot that the season is 82 games i have absolutely no idea where this team goes from here

pretty much the only option at this point by then they may have something in hayton and soderstrom , if OEL some how is on this team next season he better be with a blank sweater this team did everything for him even signed his brother when his mom past away and in return he gives them his worst productive season yet

Hall wasn't and isn't the issue, loosing Kuemper (who was a clear Vezina candidate) right after Hall arrived really hurt the team. They are are still only 3 points out of WC 1 and 4 of WC 2 at this point and have their starter back. If he can get back to that elite level again they still have a solid chance. The issue is there are 6 teams fighting for 3 spots so 3 teams are going to get screwed

I get your frustration.

But would you really want to make the playoffs and get embarrassed like the Flames probably will this year, did in 2019 and 2017?

Being at the bottom of that pack while everyone has 1-2 games in hand and all the tie breakers its pretty much over for the coyotes

I think Hayton can develop into a good top six center for us, but I don't think he's the 1C solution we need. He shows flashes so he might end up being a decent top line guy, but I wouldn't count on it. Soderstrom does project as a nice #2 defenseman and I think he'll form a great pairing with Chychrun. We have some nice pieces for the long haul, but we're missing that top line center. It's one of, if not the, toughest thing to find in the league. This draft would have been a great opportunity to get one, except we don't have our first (provided we don't win the lottery). It's a really tough spot to be in, but we only did this to ourselves.

I'd be fine to trade OEL. I'd put anything on the table except Chychrun, Kuemper, Soderstrom, Hayton, Jenik, Prosvetov, Crouse and Garland. Nobody else has proven to be worth untouchable status.

As of right now pretty much everyone is negotiable for the right price other than Kuemper , Garland , Crouse , Chychrun and Hayton

Looking at the Coyotes stats, it is clear that Schmaltz is not a 1st centre. The players I would try and move are Stepan (thinking he best fit on team wanting to deepen their middle but his $6.5 M is a killer. The other player ( might not be popular, but you need to give up something to get something) Dvorak. Should be multiple teams interested.

Arizona needs a scorer. I would try and make a deal with Tampa (Palat) as Tampa will be face with a cap crisis this summer. I suspect the Lightning will need to move another veteran. Look how well Miller has played in Vancouver. The centres are out there. Arizona has to tap into teams up against the cap ( I am aware the Coyotes are in the same position.

I think Chayka did a lot of things right to make the team playoff bound. This season looks like a hiccup. May need to reboot. Clearly, the #1 priority is a legitimate 1st line centre
Lack of scoring has been their nemesis. Can’t blame goaltending here.
