They are not going to give up Cozens right away with the potential he has especially with them needing center depth. They also won’t have enough room for cap space with Barzal when Reinhart, Dahlin, Joki, Olofsson and etc get their contracts that already have Eichel, Skinner and Okposo eating up a lot of cap space. Adding Brazal already on to what we are going to sign is going to give us a cap crunch for our bottom 6 and will hurt is in the long run

You did see Reinhart going the other way right?

Yes I did, don’t know I included Reinhart in the reply. But still my point stands but without Reinhart on the team

I really would not want to trade Cozens, but hell this is Barzal, a very difficult choice. Although hardly Islanders would have made this deal.

I would consider trading Reinhart + Mittelstadt for some really good center.

You know, reading these posts, I wonder if these guys wouldn't turn down Connor McDavid because he's too expensive . . . only @SalamiCheese is attached to reality . . .

Isles wouldn’t do this trade even if buffalo added their 1st rd pick. I’m not convinced cozens will be a 1C. Probably a really good 2C.

I wouldn't make the deal. Remove Wahlstrom and it's closer. Doesn't exactly solve any of our needs. It's unilateral if anything, and then you're hoping Cozens pans out. If Barzal for some reason really forced our hand (which as an RFA it's only by signing an ungodly OS that we can take 4 1st's back) we could still find a better fitting trade than this.

Also...GOOD LUCK signing him to an $8x8 deal. Isles would have done that last July

I really don't think that is enough overpay for barzal because thats what it will take. Cozens is good sure but Wahlstrom is also good and barzal is worth more than reinhart.

laugh You seriously think that Cozens has anywhere near the value of Barzal? Barzal is a million times better then Cozens will ever be. And Reinhart is a joke and overrated by Sabre fans.

Isles trading their #1 center for mainly wingers is like Buffalo trading Dahlin for another right shot dman..... C is not an area of strength on the Isles so im not sure they'd want to make this trade. They have quite a bit of wingers and quite a few dmen however. They'd be more inclined to move some of those positions for an area of need, Just like Buffalo has a ton RHD that can be moved.

He's played a little wing but yeah I digress. He's not going to be the #1 center anytime soon for the Isles was my point.
