As much as that would be ideal for VGK, that's exactly why he didn't want to sign with CHI. He wants the term, and most teams are going to wait for him to hit free agency rather than trade for Fleury.

Carolina, Detroit, Buffalo, Ottawa, Chicago, maybe even teams like Calgary or Colorado I would think be more likely. I think he signs wherever guarantees the most starts and committing almost 13M to goalies for multiple years would be a misstep as well imo

Fat chance that Lehner would sign for 2 x 5.75 he'll easily get 6 x 6.5 on the open market. He'll go where the money and term is and where he can start the most games. Cough Detroit. Cough Detroit.

If that is the case, then sign him to a long term. It was what he wanted in Chicago ( rumoured). Lehner is not going to agree to 2 years.

... and if you followed what Yzerman did in Tampa, when he first arrive, he shopped for a goaltender. It didn’t happen overnight ( Roloson was stop gap. Tampa didn’t have solid goaltending until Yzerman acquired Bishop) Lehner would be a good fit Detroit.
