Although a cheaper UFA winger could be had like a Reeves, Maroon, SImmonds, etc... to give Frost and Patrick a veteran on third line than UFA Hoffman.
Deals for Hanifan, Johns and Honka might be too many dmen, leaving a very capable out, with Hagg as 7th

Both teams decline.

Acquiring Van Riemsdyk might make it too hard for DAL to re-sign Heiskanen, although the value is good enough.

Also no one's paying much for Ghost after his extremely sub-par season. If you want Hanifin in exchange to Ghost, be prepared to add one or two first rounders. Then it would be equivalent close the equivalent to the Schenn for Lehterä trade...

The issue with adding Hanifin or any other defender with term is expansion. Who gets exposed out of Provorov,Sanheim,Myers, and Hanifin? Going 4/4 isn’t really an option for us. I’d rather Protect the 3 we have and deal Ghost. Hagg resigned and used as the exposed defender. Keep grooming York,Zamula etc and draft a righty this upcoming draft. With a bit of luck our post expansion defense should be fairly young but solid.

Hoffman will be looking to get paid IMO. His contract probably starts with a 7
