I’m not saying it’s two firsts but it’s certainly more than a third. Age is certainly a factor, Marner is still getting better... Ellis will only decline.

Sure but so is cost, Ellis' contract is 6.25M where Marner is at 10.8M.

Marner won't be getting moved and even if he was it wouldn't be for late 20s early 30s defenseman it would be for a early 20 to mid 20 Defense man with term.

I appreciate the feedback guys. The reason for the two firsts, like Jamiepo said, was because of the age difference (and also the fact that we're talking about a 90-100 point player who likely hasn't peaked yet), but you're right Ledge_And_Dairy in the sense that it may be a bit excessive. I do think its more than a 3rd, however. What about one first?

THis is an interesting trade. I love Ryan Ellis, but he will be 36 at the end of this deal. If the leafs want to trade Marner I think they'll get a better package then this.

Marner is great obviously but NSH does not do this trade. Ellis has the highest EVO GAR among defensemen in the league and signed to a team friendly deal.

Also its not feasible based on NSH cap implications.

However, Ellis would be a great fit in Toronto as he provides elite level offence without jeopardizing the DZ like Rielly.
