The Off Season

Created by: MNBassman
Team: 2020-21 Minnesota Wild
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 28, 2020
Published: Mar. 10, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Looks like the Wild will be drafting 10-20 again this year...super excited about that...
I am, however, excited about the future of this team...if a few things get done this off season.
The plan would be to trade Niskanen and/or Boychuck at the 20/21 tdl if Brennan Menell or Louis Belpedio (if not part of the Parise deal) is ready to take on a full-time NHL role.
While Ek is certainly not a bonafide #1 C, i can see this line combo working well...Ek does all the dirty work and Kaprizov and Fiala reap the benefits...plus, Ek is a very underrated passer and can probably put up 60 points playing in this spot.

Flyers definitely decline. Niskanen > Dumba. Staal and Hartman don't get you Frost and a first round pick.
Also, why buy out Dubnyk? You have 10mil in cap space and it just loses money for next year.

I’ve been a Niskanen fan since his high school days, but thiught he might be on the decline based on his age and was offering to take him to help with the cap, and to work as a stop-gap RHD for the Wild.
Would Philly consider Dumba and Staal for Frost and a 1st? Also, how is Phillipe Myers developing?

I think Matt Niskanen is really underrated on here. He is definitely going to be declining, but he's the best right handed defenseman we have as of right now. I'd like to have him for next year. I don't think the Flyers want Dumba or Staal, for next year at least. We're pretty much full in every position. Phillipe Myers has been developing pretty good. His offense has slowed down and he isn't as good as I thought he was, but he's going to be a great top-4 dman.

Because Dubnyk isn’t even a serviceable backup anymore

Yeah I understand that, but why wouldn't you want him off the books in one year instead of two years? I mean you'll probably have plenty of cap anyways, but keeping him should still be better.

Plenty of cap and he’s just taking a roster spot from Kahkonen or a UFA goalie

I'd rather have Parise than 2 cap dumps.
