The first step is firing Blashill and bringing in Gallant. Lehner will not be signing that low, especially for a team like Wings right now. Am I the only one who has faith in Bernier?

For as bad as this team has been Bernier has been the team MVP. How bad could this teams record be if Bernier had Howard #s.

I believe Yzerman is going to spend money on a UFA goalie this year. Nothing wrong with Bernier, but with 20+ million in cap space even after signing RFA's, you almost have spend on a goalie for the Red Wings' situation. What happens if Bernier gets hurt next year? Also, if you think Lehner won't sign for 5 million again, then just add a million or two in your head and this scenario above still works out.

It's not if he'll sign for a million more or not, it's that he'll want to go to a contender, or top 12 team at that, not a team briefing to undergo a massive rebuild.

It's going to come down to money for Lehner and a place that he can be number 1 for a substantial amount of years. The Wings will have the money to give him and can you think of a team in the league that needs a goalie more than the Wings?

A substantial amount of years? You signed him for 4, and much too low at that. The Wings need anything they can get right now, not just a goalie.
