It might decreased but I would think it would be put on the players, they’d receive a percentage of the salary so everyone would basically stay in the same boat team cap wise
Just my guess if it did decrease

Why? We have an example of the cap decreasing. There were no rollbacks.

It's based on hockey related revenues. If the season is postponed or cancelled they'll lose tonnes. I don't know if they're able to lower the cap without negotiation but hrr being down would be most likely outcome if a delay or cancellation happens

Now honestly I didn't figure you to be the silver lining type but you have to get points for trying to put a positive spin on everything.

I actually think Cap could be frozen as a result of this virus and especially if NHL season is cancelled like the NBA season this year.

But teams got a buyout that didn’t count towards the cap as compensation

I think the point is that the cap decreasing will not punish teams in the way some people may think it will. Like buyouts for example...allowing teams to have something like that which doesn't count against the cap.

In fairness to all teams/GMs, the coronavirus isn't something that anyone can plan for so allowing buyouts or other mechanisms to be cap compliant makes sense.

Sure. Never said anything to the contrary. Just said there wouldn’t be salary rollbacks.

Over 300 million dollars in revenue will be lost. That's an average of 10 million dollars a team...

I hadn't thought about the Leafs. My comment was in general about the league. We can always fantasy talk about which players to buyout tho.

But if he were to be bought out and signed to a cheaper deal? Your thoughts?

Depends if he would be bought out as a UFA or an RFA. If RFA I'm sure Dubas would want another shot at that (not sure if he'd admit it though).
