Not really. Heiskanen produces close to what Klingberg does and plays better defense,Buffalo needs a bit more offensive punch. I think this is a pretty equal trade.

Klingberg is terrible on defense and C/LW is the last thing Stars need anywhere in their club.

If it's the defense you're after, Klingberg for Risto is probably the stupidest possible trade you could make.

Risto can't defend. The only thing he does "defensively" more than Klingberg is that he's more physical and has more size.

Skill-wise Klingberg is 100 times better.

There is not one stat that supports either of yalls claims. Risto has progressively posted better defensive numbers than Klingberg.

The major difference between them is that this is considered to be extremely good season for Risto, and quite bad season for Klingberg.

Trust me, Klingberg has the edge. Almost everyone from each fanbase thinks this way.

If you're talking in terms of offense production then yes , that's a big duh but, as a defenseman? No way. You're crazy if you think a offensive dman plays better defense then a 2way/stay at home dman.
Like I said, nothing past or present supports your case.

I'd like you to find me a person on this site (except yourself) that thinks Risto is a solid stay-at-home D-man. I've been active here for two and a half-years, and Risto has been probably the most mocked D due to his defensive ability being close to the same that of a traffic cone - at least until this year.

https://www.hockey-reference.com/players/r/ristora01-advanced-ev.html just see here some of his advanced stats. He's not good, really. He should be a defensive D-man, but he tries to play like an offensive d-man, and at the end of the day he's sub-par in both...

When last I looked, Dallas had given up fewer goals than any team in the League not named Boston. So why would you trade away the entire right side of that eminently successful unit?

The day after the paperwork hits the NHL office, I can see Botterill calling him up and saying How about Roope Hintz for Marcus Johansen?
