Art Ross yes obviously,
Hart definitely no: "most valuable to their team" If McDavid is in the running for MVP also, neither of them can be the most valuable. Same with Marchy and Pasta, neither of them could win.
Hart will be Mackinnon or Maybe Panarin

He have very hard competitor in mackinnon who carry the avs for most of the season. Kadri miss 20 games, rantanen almost 30 and landeskog almost 20. I am pretty sure that it will be much closer then you think. But still draistail should win it by a slight marge

panarin has a very good chance if, when the season resumes, he can push the rangers into playoff position. I don't see him winning it if not, and I'm a rangers fan. He definitely deserves a decent amount of votes though.

Rags aren't in a playoff spot so no Panarin sadly, he will absolutely get votes and deservedly so, Pastranak will definitely get votes, Marchand doesn't diminish the season he's having. Same goes for Draisaitl. Should Crosby and Malkin be punished for playing on the same team? Strong case to MacKinnon though he's had it rough.

And is this a rules that you’ve made up?? In 1995-96 mario lemieux and jaromir jagr where both in the discussion. Lemieux have won the hart that year and Jagr have received 5 first place vote and finish 4 in voting. Gretzky and coffey did the same in 84-85.

If you take a closse look at crosby and malkin hart trophy win. You will noticed that either one of crosby or malkin have miss significant time the year the other one won.

No need for the sarcasm. Clearly it isnt a rule, its just logic.
MacKinnon is constantly carrying his team by himself. Im a bruins fan and i know that pasta is equally as likely to win as Drai, and niether are as likely to win as MacKinnon

I don’t think the season is over, they aren’t throwing away that kind of money. They might truncate the season, but I can’t see them canceling everything.

Boston are much more well balanced then either Colorado or edmonton. But i agree eith you on the fact that mackinnon have carry is team for most of the season.
But with kucherov who win the trophy last year even if stamkos and point had 40 goal season and hedman had a hart caliber season the trophy should go to draistail who is on pace for a record season.

I don’t like it but the tendency show that most often the art ross and the hart goes together even if a guys like kucherov is surrounded by offensive power. A guys like seth jones this year was having a tremendous season. And Columbus can’t win no more since he is out. Jt miller in vancouver have been outstanding. Pacioretty have been carrying vegas for quite some time. But clearly mackinnon have the edge if we are talking about most valuable players.

Great, i dont care about points only.

So based on what you said: you think Pasta is the best RW in the league by a mile and a half, and you think Marchy is the best LW in the league and has been for the past 4 years (because of course he has had 4 of the top 10 seasons in terms of points by LW over the past 5 years according to nhl.com), and krug is a top 5 defenceman!!!

I could go on and on and on, but the point is, none of those are true. Pasta is the number two or three RW behind Kane and even with Kuch, Marchy is the number 2 LW (behind Ovi), Krug is a top 10-15 dman, but not top 5.
Points are not everything. And Drai is good but does not deserve most VALUABLE player (to their team)

Good explanation!!! I agree with you, and I think it isnt right. Arguably that means they need better people voting. If a player who is factually not the most valuable to their team wins the award for that, it is a matter of who is voting!

Here's a good way to gauge how important a single player's contribution is to his team: total points divided by team goals. We have a runaway winner:

Draisaitl: 49.33%
McDavid: 43.50% *missed 7 games, he's been in on 47.78% of team goals in games that he played. Oilers were 3-2-2 (.571) in games that he missed.
Pastrnak: 41.85%
Panarin: 40.77%
Eichel: 40.41%
Kane: 40.38%
MacKinnon: 39.41%
Kucherov: 34.98%
Huberdeau: 34.21%
Zibanejad: 32.19% *missed 13 games, he's been in on 39.89% of team goals in games that he played. Rangers were 8-4-1 (.651) in games that he missed.

- Draisaitl went off the charts when shifted onto his own line, that and the nearly 50% contribution rate should seal the Hart for him.
- Pastrnak has had an amazing season but plays with two other all-stars, I don't see him getting enough 1st place votes to win it.
- Panarin's team isn't in a playoff position, although they're close. Same with Eichel, Kane and Huberdeau, but those teams aren't close.
- I don't buy the narrative that MacKinnon has been powering the Avalanche alone for much of the season, he's basically 10 points below Draisaitl on the list above. That's an incredible chasm.

See post #15 above. Mack has NOT been carrying his team by himself. He's had far more help than Draisaitl has had.

See who is right below Drai????
McDavid! That proves my point smile. they are collectively most valuable to their team, but not individually .
Thank you!

I was hoping he'd be able to win the Richard as well. Now he may not get that opportunity.

Its the journalist that vote for the best players. I would make vote old coach and players. I think that they have a different view then the journalist.

And yeah i didnt even see the end.
Dude you realize that Pasta being here without Marchy or Bergy makes him more likely to win it than Drai with Mcdavid here. They "need" eachother, Pasta doesnt "need" Marchy or Bergy is what YOUR fraphic shows.

There is an MVP award that is voted on by the players, it's called the Ted Lindsay Award.

You also forgot to talk about Pasta playing off of that line with Krejci and still putting up points! So listen you can be one-sided, or you can be logical. I personally choose logic

And defensive attribution, opposing matchups, how clutch you are in key moment. Those aren’t thing that your data showed. The fact that the oilers have score lots less goal then other team have a impact on those number.
