Why would the Leafs give up all THAT for one year of Hjalmarsson. Suddenly the site is deluged with all these average, aging Arizona Dmen being traded to the Leafs. They aren't needed.
But don't think Avs do that trade.

This deal is fully contingent that Hjalmarsson re-signs... Also the Leafs want to win NOW.. and with these trades we have a mean shut down second pair, two veteran stanley cup winning d men who are very responsible... Lily is a tough asset to part with but he is replaceable through the draft and his projection and value equate roughly to a 2nd round pick acquired in the ARI deal whereas Engvall is fully replaceable by Robertson or a number of bottom six options - Also why wouldn't the Avs do that trade lol - two forwards who can play in the top 6 and add depth as well for a comparable bottom six forward and D man who sits in thier bottom pair especailly with Byram and Timmins coming up through their pipeline...

no way that any GM in a cap bind trades away 10 viable years of a cap relieving deal for anyone (like Hjallmarsson) on a very steep down slope
find a viable 26 year old to trade Liljegren for...

Bc as recently as last season, Hammer was the best pure DFD in the league

Too much mileage on him. That's a big concern imo.

Maybe you should put things like that in the "Additional Details" box of the trade screen, or even in the Team Explanation.

The COL trade is interesting. I don’t know that Kerfoot is somebody they want to bring back, though.

So? Seems like so many Dmen for non playoff teams seem to so good and valuable when they are traded to the Leafs. Gee how many good Dmen can Arizona really have? I know they have a lot cap invested in them but geez after OEL and Chychrum the others aren't that special.

OEL is overrated... Goli just straight up sucks, teams that are only competing for the playoffs can have 3 good d men... And a good system, Hammer may be the most valuable player to that defense, OEL sucks defensively, Chychrun is decent, Demers is average, Goli is a train wreck, Hammer is elite... Teams other than the leafs can have good players

I dont think so, kerfoot is in the same boat as jost.. hes a bottom 6er on this team so it's an even trade there that costs more for the avs,... johnsson is also in the kerfoot boat, hes not going to out play the top 6

Johnsson is a career 0.54 ppg which is significantly better than Jost. With some of these trades, you need to look at potential too much like Avs did with Burakovsky. That’s why I said it was interesting.
