He’s good but he likely tops out at a 2C. What is the incentive for Detroit to make this trade? Trouba is a very good 2nd pairing defenseman being paid like a #1. He doesn’t have much value in a trade unless NYR retain salary.

As a Detroit fan you are correct about Veleno he will most likely tops out as a #2C. What NYR would have to give up to get Larkin would be way more than they anybody would give up. He is the face of the Red Wings.

But I do think Trouba is a legitimate 1st pair dman and maybe even a #1 down the road.

You’re right , trouba can play on the top pairing and be a #2. but he can’t be “the guy” like he is right now (and he’s not succeeding in that role). He was a stud when he was paired with Morrissey in WPG.

It’s a lot easier to acquire top 6 wingers than centers. There’s not many teams that would consider trading a 23 year old 1C.

Fox is the only NYR defenseman who is just as good defensively as he is offensively. Trouba and deangelo are not good defensively, but very good offensively. It makes sense to trade trouba, not sure if the rangers will do it.

You want our future captain then you've no choice but to part with Fox as a starter and there's no way in hell Filppula waives for the Rangers he'd laugh.

No way is JG pulling that off on Stevie Y....3 players who many Ranger fans wouldn’t be too disappointed about moving for a package involving a bonafide 1C- who has a sky high ceiling...not happening- unless the Rangers were to offer a “Herschel Walker “ type package- including several names that most fans would consider a nonstarter.
