Team: 2020-21 New Jersey Devils
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 13, 2020
Published: Mar. 13, 2020

Description
This adds really good depth to the team and it helps the defense and the offense and to me makes them a more competitive team over all. This is what I would like the Devils to do this offseason to make the team better.

I actually like what you did here. I don’t think much of it is realistic to happening, but I like the players you went after. Big fan of the goalie situation you have going on.

That's horrible for us to make that trade with Colorado. We are rebuilding....why on earth would we get rid of a first round pick which will be in the lottery just to move Schneider, whose cap hit we can easily afford for the next year or so.

I think the 1st round pick is supposed to be for the combination of Burakovsky's RFA rights and half of Schneider's salary. Of course, Burakovsky has to want to sign in NJ and Colorado would have to want to take on Schneider. I'm skeptical of both. Burying Schneider creates only about 2m less in cap room than this trade and buying him out entirely creates 1m more, though the cap hit would be on the books for longer. I don't know about the Anderson trade and extension, either, on account of his shoulder surgery.

It would make no sense to trade away a potential lottery winning pick for a guy like Burakovsky and to shed part of Schneider's salary.
