Post Corona Isles

Created by: ForsbergForVezina
Team: 2019-20 New York Islanders
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 13, 2020
Published: Mar. 14, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Lets say that the season is out for 5 weeks (pure guesswork). Cizikas will be healthy any day now and Pelech will be back in May (?). This team could potentially go down the stretch fully healthy and with none of the bad juju that ruined the last two weeks. Kinda dangerous imo.

Don’t tell me it isn’t realistic I need something to get excited about :(

It’s unfortunate that Dobson will taken out in favor of boychuk. Other than pulock , he’s been our best defenseman and it’s not even close. You can add another 20 turnovers to his stats and he’s still overall better than most of the D.

Pelech won’t be back this season no matter how far they go.

Honestly I want dal colle as insurance for brassard lol. Brass has been brutal lately and if he can’t turn it around, I wouldn’t mind a beau-pageau-dal colle line.

the matchs I watched Dobson was ok, nothing more. When he shoots he needs to find better lane because he's always getting is shot block and the puck is going the other way. But he's very young

He’s had a few rough games which is a part of the learning curve but his development has been outstanding. He’s a rookie who’s been forced to adapt to the NHL playing his off side. Dobson leads all isles defenseman in almost every category, the eye test can only explain so much. He’ll be on the top pairing by next season.

Do you think Andrew Ladd will actually get healthy? I thought his career was probably done? I don’t follow NYI much but I’ve always been a fan of Ladd on the Jets. It would be nice to see him back out there again!!

He’s been healthy all year, he’s just bad. Was in the AHL for awhile. Had a nice game on Tuesday though, so depending on how he’s doing after the break, maybe he gets to stay in the lineup. I’m really cheering for him, both as an Islander and on a personal level. He’s a rare guy who has played for both my favorite teams and if he can help us rn, I’m all for his support

Totally agree on Dobson. I just can’t see them playing him over Boychuk, simply because “muh veteran.”

Pelech, like I said: Let me get excited about something....

And MDC is okay, he just never does anything. I’d almost rather have Leo in there because at least when he has the puck, there’s a chance something good might happen. Wouldn’t mind seeing Johnston or Koivula getting a shot in that spot. I do agree, however, that running Brassard back out there probably isn’t the best idea

I agree, trotz would rather play the “predictable” players even if they suck.

Lol I gotcha.

MDC is above average defensively and a decent forechecker. I’d say brass (full potential) > MDC > johnston > koivula > komarov. I don’t think I’ve ever disliked a player more than komarov. He’s an offensive blackhole, probably more than MDC (if that’s even possible). At least MDC brings some value 5 v 5. Komarov isn’t good offensively or defensively.
