I don't think Philly would give you Konency for Gaudreau straight up, certainly not adding Frost. Konency has more term and *key point* will be a great player in the playoffs

I know it looks lateral today. As a long-term Gaudreau fan who loved him in college before he made it to the show, I'd bet this guy would find that 90-100 point level again with a change of scenery, especially to his homeland. And joining a locker room (and probably a line) with his best friend Kevin Hayes. Plus, PHI's jersey sales for Gaudreau would smash Konecny jersey sales.

I could see PHI doing a TK for JG trade straight up, but I don't think CGY would be able to justify it without getting something back. That's how I built the trade: TK plus 3rd rounder for Gaudreau, plus PHI gets back a tough, playoff-ready middle 6 player in Bennett for Frost.

Take out Frost and it's fair but imo it's not a good idea for the Flyers.

Also you need a better 3rd line LW, Lucic really is at best a 4th line player at this point.

I doubt he's going to be a 90-100 point level again because it's unlikely that everybody on his team has a career year again. Not to mention he will be in a decline since he's turning 27 this summer.

A TK for JG trade straight up? For what, just to downgrade for the playoffs? Konecny already has a slightly greater upside than Gaudreau, so no thanks. Throwing in Bennett to try to get Frost is hilarious. Bennett is worth a second round pick at most. You sure aren't getting a B+ prospect for him. We don't even need Bennett, and Frost is probably already better than him.

Gaudreau to Philly is a natural, but I don't think you get him for a forward for all of the reasons the Flyers guys above have mentioned. I think you're looking at a combination of a draft pick or two, a future prospect or two, and a defenseman like Gostisbehere or Sanheim. I'll leave it to the Philly guys to work out the details, but no one should get the impression that I'm suggesting you'll get all three elements for Gaudreau alone.

I find the Gaudreau hate pretty funny. 6.75M for a 90-100 point guy. 12 points in 20 playoff games. Has 58 points in 70 games in a down season and it’s time to get rid of him.

They said he will be a great playoff player. Konecny wasn't as good back in 2018. He had 47 points that season and he's on pace for 76 this season.

He could be good in the playoffs but he hasn’t been and there’s nothing that says he will be. The main point I was making is that this is a massive overreaction to Gaudreau having a down season and still being worth the 6.75M cap hit.
