I’m just curious as to why you would want to give Bertuzzi a massive contract like that? On a good team he is a bottom 6 player at best, and the handing out of contracts like that is what keeps teams in the non playoff half of the league.

Maybe I overpaid him but he isn't a bottom forward.

Have you even looked at his stats? To say he his a bottom 6 forward is ridiculous. He put up 48 points on a team that was no help to him at all. If he was on a better team he would be top 6 and get better numbers.

He’s forced into a top 3 role on the worst team in the league getting premium minutes in excess, because there are no other options. Yeah I checked his stats and was surprised at his production (particularly his rCF) however a certain amount of that is the excess premium ice time. Was I a bit harsh yeah, but the fact he plays so much premium time with an excellent player like Larkin inflates his numbers and perceived value, imo and on a better team he would play less minutes and not necessarily on PP1. I was wrong calling him bottom 6 (readily admit I think he is a dirty player ie holding and punching Calvert from the bench), but he isn’t a top line player on a good team either. Thanks for calling me out, forced me to try and look at him more objectively.

Yes I will agree he is a little s$@#, but I do like him. I see what you are saying, but I think he's definitely a 2nd liner unless he went to teams like Tampa or something.

It was wrong for Zadina to hold Calvert's stick and Bertuzzi does sucker punch Calvert. After being speared and punched in the head before he can even get to his feet there aren't many players that wouldn't throw that punch. I do agree that you were wrong calling Bertuzzi a bottom 6 player. Colorado only has 3 forwards I would start in front of Bertuzzi. Landeskog, MacKinnon and Rantanen.

It was wrong for Zadina to grab his stick but then Calvert turns and spears Bertuzzi and throws at Bertuzzi before

Kadri, Burakovsky are better than Bertuzzi by a lot. Bertuzzi has 3 more pts than Burakovsky playing 13 more games and averaging 4 more minutes a game in ice time. Kadri is a mile better all around and plays center. Bertuzzi is a dirty player period, holding a guys head down taking your gloves off hitting the guy then putting your glove back on before the ref gets there is beyond dirty. I was a bit harsh but part of the reason Detroit sucks as bad as they do is because he isn’t a 1st line player either. I’d also take Donskoi and probably Compher over him, because they are significantly better 2 way players.
