Can't see Granlund signing with Oilers. The money isn't enough and I'd imagine his brother wouldn't be giving out a good picture about the organisation after being moved back and forth between AHL and NHL for basically the whole year.

He was sent down because he deserved to be sent down though, not because of some vendetta against his family name. And who knows about the money: Granlund has struggled the past 1.5 years and with cap contraction there will be less money available. Besides, contracts are calculated based on % of cap, so expect AAV's to decline.

Maybe it's a 1 year "prove it" deal, but the AAV isn't far off real value for a 30-point 3rd liner who hasn't played center fulltime since 2015-16.

    I'd expect at least $4M.

UFA market is going to be meh this year.

Granlund is likely going to be one of the biggest forward names in there.

Is Slepyshev expected to return or something?
Have seen him signed or traded quite a bit on here lately.

He had a breakout season in KHL, he's a KHL UFA this summer and he's interested in returning to Edmonton. I think fans are just doing the math.

Edit: Holland admitted to personally scouting him this winter and projected some interest from his side.
